Had a lovely walk next to a beach this afternoon and was surprised to see this Scabious growing wild...
I was even more surprised to come across this Sand martin housing estate. It was just incredible to watch the birds flitting in and out of their nests with food, there must have been about 100 flying around at top speed...
And the more I look at this pic, the more the nest holes look like faces to me, or some weird archaeological site...

I was just about to edit, RAS, you beat me to it 😊 I suppose the clue was in the name, no houses for miles 🙄 In my defence it was my DH that said they were House martins, I wasn’t sure, but had never come across Sand martins before.
The Scabious was lovely, much better than the one I have in a pot here.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -

I read on FB there was thunderstorm went through here overnight night, like a Typhoon. I slept through it and the garden, apart from looking a bit wet but still upright.I've not checked but any potential runner beans left by the snails have probably been wrenched off with the stormI'll have to prowl round later to check for damage but all looks OK from the upstairs windowsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1
