Seals, wow, fabulous Poppy 😄😄😄
Dave, sorry to hear that - hope it doesn't spoil his summer too much! Sending healing vibes his way.
Well, I got my bricks moved...eventually! DH thinks I'm crazy, but I worked on it after dark by torchlight last night (till about 1am 😂), getting up - couldn't sleep anyway because of the heat - at just before 5am to finish it off, lol 🤣 Am exhausted now though, so despite it being *slightly* less intensely hot today, I'm taking things easy and just pottering. There's still loads of other stuff to shift, including a whole rockery of plants, but I'm leaving that till the very last moment.....

Hope the overnight lifting & shifting is worth it in the end PB1989, I know I've got up when i can't sleep, but it's tea & tele for meIt is slightly cooler today, with a bit of breeze, downpours and flooding expected over the weekend.Just to guarantee it I was up the volunteer place watering the large pots & dead heading early on, seems to be a shortage of bees despite the buddlias heaving with flowers, not too concerned because the grass is full of purple clover & spotted some bumbles taking the easy option with thatDoing nothing in the garden today, except more watering the pots even though rain is due, in fact I think I can pinpoint the exact hour it will arrive, my tree lilies are about to open, torrential rain will arrive 60 minutes after they doToday's pic is a teasel in the volunteer border, off course I just missed the bumble bee, but if you look closely at right hand leaf there's a midge thing, or TinkerbellEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

pink_poppy said:Oh no, sorry to hear about the broken arm. I remember when he broke the first one, didn’t he need surgery on it?? Poor wee soul, I hope this one heals quickly.Yes, surgery today for 2 hours! He's not so wee, and that's the problem, I think. Only 6 and tall enough to be 8.
His brother will be the same. None of my genes, obviously!
The last of the hay bales were shifted this morning. We normally leave them out for a few days because they can spontaneously combust, but the break in the weather that's forecast was judged more important.Looking forward to that, though I bet those just beginning to head for the M5 won't be!

I didn’t know teasels had a little frilly skirt, I’ve only ever seen them naked.
phoebe, I think your DH might be right 😉
Hope the not so wee one’s op went well today, Dave.'A watched potato will never chit'...3 -
No news, but a mysterious and striking sunset tonight.......Update: 2hr + operation went well.
Just a couple of months without swimming and bike riding to get through now!

Glad the op went well Dave, but I'd look for a refund on the red sky at night, guessing you copped the thunder & rain during the night?Woke me about 0230 so just as well your hay was in if similarDry now but dull, the lilies survived and seem to be holding off fully opening while it's mankyUnlikely to get out into garden today, too soggy but I may peer at the French beans to see if any left post rain & snailsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2

pink_poppy said:Wow, that is an epic sunset, Dave 😯I wasn't going to bother with a picture, but it lured me down the road to my vantage point which had become rampant with bramble and nettle since my last visit.
In shorts and daps (you may call those plimsolls or pumps!) I was no match for the herbage, but I forced my way in in there like some idiot paparazzi and got the shot.
Legs were scratched and tingly after, but that's nothing new.
Saw something else unique yesterday: 8 goldfinches on the feeders, so the breeding has gone well this year. It was a rush job, but I think I got 7 of them!

Cracking bird photo Dave, getting birds to sit around while fiddling with cameras is not easyToday was going to be some photos day in the garden, but it's raining already, which could be raindrop photo time later I supposeThe tree lilies are still postponing opening with the rain, but the buds have really swollen now & showing true colourThe other lilies, variety unknown but £land specials have been magnificent this year, no scent but very pretty, I've allowed them to flop instead of staking them because they are in pots & higher than the pathway when they flop they go onto a horizontal hedge, which conveniently brings them to eye level for me & passers byI was out after the rain last night giving lily petal eating snails flying lessonsHere's some liliesEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6
