Farway I hope you have some treats lined up for when you get back with all the holes in you.
Good film, hot chocolate etc. 🤞
Bluey, does your new one have a usb port?
If so you can get usbs with huge memories now. You could start with the very important stuff using that. Often safer than an external harddrive.
You could also send stuff to the cloud and then download.
I'm not savey with that. I went to a help the hopeless computer cafe and he showed me how to save to the Google account cloud.
However he didn't show how to download again. That's a job for the next storm 😁I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Only applies to the SSEN network area though.

I'm fed up with Storm Amy, although it does seem to have calmed down a bit in the last hour or so.
The only damage in the garden so far is a branch snapped off my Hydrangea, which is a shame because it's just starting to flower. Also had a couple of pots blown over and my lovely red Rowan leaves are all pretty much gone - I was only admiring them a couple of days ago.
The holiday might be back on, albeit delayed by a few days. Fingers crossed it all works out.
Hope you don't feel too bad after your two jags, Farway. Good idea of twopenny's to sit and watch a film with a nice hot chocolate.
That's a very vivid coloured Aster, Dusty, although I know you said the colour wasn't quite right in the photo. Canterbury and Leicester dahlia doesn't ring a bell, but it was a few years ago.
Hope you got your new to you laptop figured out, YBE.
molerat, that's going to be a useful website for us, thanks. I'm so glad we didn't get any power cuts, we just lost our TV signal for a few hours.
Hope everyone came through unscathed from the strong winds. I did read that the Isle of Tiree recorded gusts of 102mph - I bet that did some damage. I'm still hearing reports of trees coming down here.
OT - much calmer today and there may even be a bit of sun to be had...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
The way the wind blew at the windows last night was quite scary 😳
But the hail storms we had in daylight were fascinating. Blowing in all directions including upwards up and over the roofs.
Poppy put the snapped branch in a vase of water somewhere warmish and it will root. Then you'll have 2. 🙂
Glad you are mostly in one piece.
So far most of my pots seem to be ok. May have to redo the garden door. I covered it wouldn't stay and the filler has turned brown 😬
Still blowing here but brighter.
I went into middle town yesterday and was going to photograph the lovely avenue of trees that suddenly turned yellow only last weekend but most of the leaves had blown off 😲

Mrs Dusty and I can't claim ownership of any Jags, but we get by without weird advertising, and we've not been hacked, or shut down, thus far.
I'm glad your holiday may yet be rescued from Amy, pp.A break at this time of year, before the really nasty stuff sets in, is especially beneficial. Of necessity, we had our hols in the autumn when we had the business, and there was usually some good weather to be had. Now it's slightly different, of course, with Halloween prep in August and Xmas kicking-off at the solstice, but that's time speeding-up and the global wastage for you.
I hope you have a great few days in places that are still largely timeless.
As for us, down here, there's little if any sign of extreme weather. I believe we hit 50mph or so in the gusts. However, despite constant battering at the windows, the rain wasn't as intense as it sounded. The stream is flowing, yet still low. Today looks much the same as yesterday so far, with more rain and bluster, but we're promised some sunshine later, and a dull, largely benign week ahead. I'm content with that, as the jungle drums inform me, work to rectify shortcomings in our septic tank drain field may soon begin.I'm not sure if I posted this:These are the Uchiki Kuri squash we grew from Lidl seed. There were more, which have gone to other homes. Though small, only two plants produced these! They're just large enough for a half per person.

I'm fed up with acorns hitting the car and making me jump, though!Lightning, the other product of those vertically rushing winds also eluded us. There was more of that about 20 miles south of us, and down in Cornwall. It seems we've had things easy, here.

Sunny and breezy, with leaves still on the trees and no local damage I'm aware of.Jabs went OK, and seem to have avoided sore arms this year, plenty of time thoughRecuperated by catching the latest GW yesterday and was so gripped by it, I missed half when I fell asleepCBA to see what I missed because it was obviously of no interest to meitsthelittlethings said:I don’t have a garden so I have houseplants.Welcome. You don't need a garden. We can kill houseplants just as wellSeeing your coleus has reminded me to get another photo of my Kong one while it still looks decentThat's a goodly crop of squash Dusty. Were they grown outside or in a tunnel?Fingers crossed PP for your second go at holidayMy only gardening will be getting the garden wheelie bin round the front for collection, best do it today in case I have rubbish jabbed arms tomorrowMy newly planted pansies were fine after the rain & wind, hopefully they will settle inNumerus non sum6

Good morning all, from my 'laptop'!
It's not all fully set up yet but it's enough to be going on with. It has a touchpad and no buttonsI'm yet to work out how to do things that require buttons with no buttons
I like your asters there Dusty, I think I can imagine the real life colour cos there's a garden on my walk to work that has a bladdy load of them and they're gorgeous
Good news your holibob might not be a wasted pp, is it to calm down further for yous up there? I'm crossing my fingers your hydrangea can be saved
Thank you kindly for the link molerat. Sadly it doesn't cover the area I want, but useful in general
2p I do have a usb port, but I think I might be able to save the most important irreplaceable bits to the cloud and then start fresh for the rest of the stuff. I did laugh at the photos comment too
Did you get both shots in the one arm Farway or did they stab you evenly?
Hopefully wort is having a fine old time in Germania. Were you in the path of Amy @taff
OT Sunny here, breezy though - still gusting 40 mph - so I've 2 loads of washing on the line and every peg in my possession is earning it's keep! Might have a run out to the beach actually, see if I can get some pics of the angry sea. I love an angry sea.
