Aw, hope the job is going well, YBE. How lovely to have a wee menagerie to share your lunch with
I'm probably at 75% health wise, although I'm not going to count Dusty's chickens, as I thought I was getting better last time... Thanks for asking
I would love those alliums, Farway, but I'm not buying anything until the garden landscaping is finished, whenever that may be.
I think there was a Redwing in the crab apple yesterday (after my mis-identification the other day) - Dusty, can you confirm (or deny), please...
It's a rubbish pic as I could see it was going to be disturbed by a dog walker (I don't think it was YBE) so I literally just grabbed my phone and took the pic.
OT - the frost disappeared yesterday, even though it was still freezing cold. It's grey and miserable today and the same forecast for the weekend, but I'm hoping to go with DH to pick a Christmas tree tomorrow. Ho Ho Ho'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
taff, do you have a pic of the fruit cage?? It doesn't just lift up, does it??'A watched potato will never chit'...6

I'm impressed ybe! My cousiin tells me that they now say vivo il lupo instead of crepi, maybe they started feeling sorry for them
They saw wolves last year in her village, her son took a video of them crossing the road and ditch, they are enormous! I didn't realise they were so big! And while they are near mountains, they're near in the sense that they're fifty miles away..I think it's quite sweet being called poppet. They'll be eating out of your hand in no time, hmans and avians alike
Farway, those are the bulbs that were on offer for a tenner or something a few weeks back. I know because I bought them! Looks like you just have to hold off till the last possible moment for planting anything because TM will sell them for nowt... [ gnashing teefs smiley]Ho hoh o to you too pp...pics of said tree please [ any tree really... as long as there's a Christmas in the first word]No, there are metal bars on each corner with metal round bits at the top so as not to rip it. I'll take a pic tomorrow when I'll do attempt no .2 ..No gardening today, I went out for lunch and had some Welsh rarebit after all the talk of cheese tarts on the Old Style...it was bloody lovely too...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5 -
YoungBlueEyes said:Beautiful pictures, I like the waterfall and the spooky Rosemoor polo - I vote for 'cur-sed' or even 'a-cur-sed' - and the beautiful glowing red tree
I reckon Miss Haversham would be pleased as punch with the hydrangea.
My pictures aren't anything like as artistic but - where I sit for my lunch has birds in it, and they're obviously used to begging. Day one I had a robin and a sparrow.Yes, it's's definitely 'cur-sed.'New shoes for the new job, by the look of them.
Glad you and they seem to be compatible.
Where I once worked, the seagulls would circle until the kids had all left the playground, then swoop to feed on all the dropped crisps and crusts from their sandwiches. Rather than instruct us lazy teachers to return pronto to our classrooms, the Head would enter the staffroom and declare loudly, "Ah, I see the seagulls are down!"(You can tell how long ago this was, because Mother State didn't interfere with the contents of children's lunch bags.
)
I also griddled my lions this morning to fetch chicken feed, bedding and other nonsense from the farmers' shop, where I snapped some starlings chattering in a tree by the car park. It was so dull, and the air so thick with that microscopic rain, I doubt they'll be more than silhouettes. Therefore, it has to be some sculptural birds today. We've seen these made from cutlery before, but these are new ones.PS I get all the T&M offers now, Farway, and that allium one was tempting, but Mrs Dusty says "No!"It's still raining now, a little more forcefully, and the temperature's way up at 12c. They're promising 15c tomorrow!

yea! I'm in.....been having computer problems or rather internet. Dreadful signal and wouldn't post yesterday, died etc.Waving at Bluey, great it's going great and somewhere nice for lunch. I always used to go away from the office to restore my sanity.I'm fairly envious of the dry ground in those photos. It's still grey, cold and wet here. I'm going to have to buy more underwear again because there's no way of getting stuff dry. Gone of for sooooo long.Think the gloom I'm beginning to suffer is not having been able to get out in the garden and play for so long. That's a great offer Farway
Haven't got the bulbs I have in the ground yet, those that are are beginning to show green shoots.
Today I see the daffodils in the corner of the field next door are not only grown but have budsKeeping a protective eye on them in case any break in the wind and need rescuing
Took some photos of flowers in bloom today - but the camera is in the car and it's cold and raining, so tomorrow.I'm cogitating on the fruit cage. I used to have one side with half the netting just looped over tacks but it sounds like this one is a proper job.Down here the word of affection used by the nurse is an old West Country one. 'Hop up there m'lover' then appologised. I love it and it made me relaxed. Love the old vocabulary. It's homely.Alright me loverRight 'ansome.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes, that's a Redwing, and you've beaten me to seeing one this winter.
Plenty Fieldfares here, though.
Hope you're well enough to go Christmas tree hunting tomorrow."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Flouncy Compo Blue Swift Fund - gawd that made me laugh Farway
Oh I absolutely did know the reply to your crepi wolves taff really I did *vigorous nodding* I did not D'Duck it or anything *vigorous shaking of head*
Jeez I love this place!
Speaking of wolves, did anyone see the Photographer's Photographs Of The Year, or whatever it's called? There's wolves in that - really good picture - but I didn't share the link because of a cheetah pic that's too much frankly, and I'm not a soppy sort. Truly haunting
I fancy that bird sculpture in my garden Dusty... when yous go again ask MrsD to take a big handbag. I'll pay you the postageYep I went mad and bought meself new shoes - I only put my foot in the pic to show how near the birds were.
Have you no heat 2p? Did your boiler man not cometh? You can dry pants with your hairdryer as an emergency stopgap... cheaper than buying more and more pantsThat's a beautiful moon, look at the detail you've captured - t'is reet 'ansome
How's them daffs doing...?
Lovely Neighbour has changed her hours so she only works Thursday mornings now, so Handsome Perambulation is covered. I wish I could get a job where she works, she does nowt and gets paid a bunch of money and can change her hours at will.
Taff if your fruit cage doesn't open from anywhere round the top or sides it must untuck from the bottom. Remember what wosname said - when you've eliminated all possibilities, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the answer (or something). Is there someone up there who's seen your cage in action so to speak?
OT warm and muggy and misty and damp. Not my favourite tbh. 9' my phone says, with a high of 13' to come.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Here's some cheering pics, to ward off cases of the glooms.
I'd forgotten about a couple of things that happened, but I'll not flood the place with pics so I'll do them another time.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Ooh Dusty your toms are Photo of the WeekI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4

That was one of the easiest photos I've taken this year too. After all, they couldn't run away, fly off, or be moved by a sudden gust of wind.
Bluey, your holiday snap with the philosophical writing, "To travel, you only have to exist," reminded me of a quote about education I liked at uni: "To be educated is not to have arrived, but to travel with a different view." It's similar to the old Socrates “Education is kindling of fire and not filling of vessel.”OK... Heavy stuff for a Saturday morning!
It's already 13c out there with some sunshine on the way, but Mrs Dusty is refusing to go to Rosemoor, so I can't fetch your bird sculpture today. Walking friend is unwell with the lurgy, so It looks like I may have to go alone in the week.I'll need to source a manbag, of course. This one looks pretty good. It even has pockets for things to fall into...
As expected, yesterday's car park photo was tedious, despite the jolly, joyful noise the starlings were making. Then I noticed the one that had just taken off, so I fiddled with that part of the picture. It's a bit early for you to be handing your notice in, but if you do land a position at your neighbour's place of work, I have the ideal card with which to break this to your boss, Poppet!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country."
