Good luck for tomorrow Bluey. Farway made me laugh..........they'll be kind and tollerant to you on the first dayNo way am I clearing or helping clear the badger run. Mines tough enough, have painful leg. She is able and so is the son living with her. Brother on call too. They don't do things because 'they don't like doing it' Raises eyes and grits teeth.Sorry it's bad Poppy. Know just what you mean about phoning the surgery. Just what you don't want to tackle when you're feeling poorly I realised a while back.Wow Farway, that sounds good. They can produce custom made spare legs and such if you want oneSpectacular Dusty! You could sell ticketsRelatively mild 8c but still raining and low light.Developed a tummy bug yesterday and feeling rough. So many things going round atm.26 days and the sun will start to rise in the sky even before the daylength changes.........

Farway said:Nice watery pics Dusty, as said, looks like a Rain Forest down there, bummer about the gutter brackets.Could this be the time to investigate 3D printers? Could turn into a cottage industry, sort of modern day Blacksmith.I bought a 3D printed camera flash hot shoe cover FWIW, so someone at least is turning a hobby into moneyAmazingly, the gutter brackets are significantly cheaper now than they were a few years ago, when we first had storm damage.
It's natural selection at work. Brackets fail, dodgy builder says, “No longer available, squire,” and fits brand-new guttering = lesser demand over time. Anyway, they'll be here tomorrow!
Yes, all the dripping foliage and ferns created quite an evocative rainforest feel yesterday. However, there are too many ferns. They're being reduced, so we can see the primroses, geraniums, and other 'wild' flowers properly in spring. It's a place that's at its best in spring, before the stream dries up and the tree canopy cuts the available light. I've had some success introducing foxgloves, but it's hard to find plants which will grow happily in the summer shade and not be overwhelmed.
No gardening today, just hosting a committee meeting for the gardening club. Of course, it's been dry, sunny and reasonably warm throughout!Let's hope the weather isn't too wonderful on your first day in the new job, Bluey.

That;s amazing 2P, such a good idea to be making limbs like that. I did like they had to point out though if you make a donation to provide a limb, you wont actually receive anything...In bocca lupo ybe! That's a great waterfall Dusty, string some lights on it and charge for photos
That's more like an art website than a garden website, not sure I'd be tempted for that one.
Weather here was a lot fo wind and rain to which the gazebo fell victim, not surprising really, it's had a good innings as a makeshift shed. Real shed coming Friday, just got to make some room and lay some slabs now [ just!] Unfortunately, some of my seeds quite a lot fo my seeds] got soaking wt because I thought they were in the greenhouse, so I'm attempting to dry some of them in case they would be viable.Fingers crossed for sticking boiler success.Commiserations for Bertigo too [but made me laugh, it's the naming of a thing to take away it's power]

I did like they had to point out though if you make a donation to provide a limb, you wont actually receive anything...There was an idea, maybe one day, that it could be possible to send a 3D printer to say Mars, and once there it could print out out Mars Rovers etc. Far easier than sending ready built Rovers there, sort of interplanetary Fax machine.Hope the TB clears, never know where they come from but at least they normally don't last longDusty, that's good bracket news, nice that some things work out fine.No gardening here today, too cold & damp for me, even in the conservatory, which could do with a bit of a tidy up, dead fig leaves for instanceEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

Hope you're feeling better today, twopenny. I'm fed up with all these bugs and illnesses going around.
I'm feeling better than yesterday, although still dizzy. I'm wondering if this bout of vertigo is the same one I started with last month, Dusty, rather than a new one. I've read that it can last weeks or even months. It's also quite a common thing to get, which I was surprised about. I do remember feeling dizzy when I was looking up at the Aurora on Harris - I thought it was because I'd had a couple of glasses of wine, but actually looking up like that can be a BPPV trigger...
I don't think I can go for this interview on Thursday, so I'm going to withdraw my application. It's a council job and I could see there were at least 3 interview slots when I first got the email and now there's only one left (mine). I'll probably wait until next year now to apply for other things. Your 'good luck, they'll need it' comment to YBE made me laugh, Farway
OT - it's a lovely sunny day here, but chilly at 6 degrees. Colder tomorrow and we have a planned power cut in the morning, so no hot chocolate to warm me up'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
Sunny and reasonably pleasant temperature-wise here. More rain tonight, but I don't garden in the dark. I'm not gardening in the daytime either at present, as Mrs Dusty has a list of jobs for me beyond the brackets.I agree, fantastic info on 2p's 3D printed prosthetics website, even if I didn't understand it all. Getting un-splodged pages out of my old printer is hard enough! I swear at it so much, if it made a hand, that would probably emerge and instantly throttle me!
There's a plot for a sci-fi B movie, right there.
Who's going to get up in the morning and put the thread kettle on now Bluey's at work? I hope she's having a good first day, wherever she is...Where was I? Oh yes, up a ladder cleaning the roof parts of the conservatory Mrs Dusty cannot reach. It's a horrible, wobbly job, and as it's 30m2, a two-day marathon, knees permitting. Maybe they'll invent a drone to do it one day.Good to hear your BPVV vertigo thing is a little easier today, pp, but what a shame it's made you miss your interview.Sorry to hear you have lurgy of the digestive kind, 2p, but hopefully, as Farway says, it'll pass soon be gone.

Thinking of what you said above, taff, dare I put up this photo I took of the original Rosemoor House as seen through a modern sculpture? I'll risk it!Hmmm...Looks like I need to tilt the sculpture or the house a little! Another day, perhaps.

Not a thing to report really.8cish, not windy and the sun shone mostly but it's still damp and dripping everywhere.Came down Porlock Hill this after, steepest in England. Sheesh it was slippery with all the leaves and streaming water. Popped up to see if any deer were still around but no. However a big herd of ponies gathering ready to head for bed so galloping over the moor. Lovely to see. Here's a photo - it's got plants in it so I think that's ok. It's for our topic of Hidden. That would be the sun of coursePoppy I think you could be right about it being the same dizzy. At least it got better for a while so you should see the same happening again until it's gone. Maybe the worry about the interview bought it on, too soon to stress. But remember 'what's for you won't go past you' so there should be something in your starsLike the sculpture Dusty. Never sure what to make of this modern stuff but at least it frames nice thingsFarway while you're staying inside could you sort all the photos out on my camera? Sheesh it's fun taking them but filing and deleting takes some concentration!Yes the limb machine is amazing. I heard about it many years ago and glad to see it's still going.Yes, feeling mostly better. Living on short dull rashions and no alchohol. Good for me but annoying.Bluey I would guess hasn't got time to play at the mo. It will take a while for her to find the time. Careful what you post though. These things come back to haunt some

Now, it's persistent heavy rain...again.You're right about being careful about the content of posts. Though it goes against the grain, I'll amend how I referred to the indolent.

Well that's a horribly cold and drizzly day out there so the fire is on already and staying on..Farway, that was funny, I hadn't even thought about that.I liked your peephole view of the house...I did a fine art degree and I am absolutely clueless about most modern art, I think it's just one big con, Glad to hear you're taking the tea and cake aspect seriously, everyone needs a chat and sit down to discuss what they've seen and show each other any bounty that may have fallen into pocketses...Nicely hidden sun there tooHas anyone actually seen a beast of exmoor or thereabouts?I might pant some bulbs today, I hve been slack and have many aliums and tulips to do and it is knid of now or never for them.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5

Electric was supposed to be off 9-12 this morning. It was still on at 10,30 so I decided to make myself a quick hot chocolate and top my hot water bottle up. Of course, this meant the electric went off, so I had a lukewarm hot chocolate and a lukewarm hot water bottle. The electric came back on after about 20 minutes... bloomin' typical bad timing.
That's a strange sculpture, Dusty. Is it meant to be/look cracked?? I see what you mean about the wonkiness - I still haven't worked out how to straighten my photos.
Love the shadowy photo, twopenny - very atmospheric. And I see the 'Beast of Exmoor' that Dusty pointed out lurking there. Did you see it when you were taking the pic??
It's another beautiful sunny day here, but very cold with snow on the mountains. I actually went out for a quick walk yesterday, but paid the price when I got back, I think the walking movement made the BPPV worse and I'm still not great today. I would love to get outside today and absorb some watery vitamin D, but I'm not going to risk it.'A watched potato will never chit'...3
