Good point about the fruit cage Bluey. I seem to remember seeing some with rolled up sides. And love the tropical photos
I've just been looking up how to make a French looking kitchen so topical. Don't think I have enough money and the enthusiasm might wain. Charity shops all the way.
Yes I have heating but I have to keep turning it off when the noise starts and can't leave it on on a cold day. I've got some ideas about what it might be now.I'll make another call on Monday - if necessary there's Domestic & ~General that do a one off. Must ask on the DIY forum. We have photos like that Dusty. The birds make lovely patterns in the trees. So you need a 'man bag'? Does that mean that you usually give your stuff to the ladies to carry14c here with no wind and bright, occasional sun. Washing out though I don't have much hope of it being dry any time soon. Everywhere looks like a bucket of water has been thrown over it so gardening still out unless I find water skis.Just look how those trees are planted right against the house. And in this country people won't even plant a rose for fear of it damaging the house.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

2p my washing is out too. It’s got a slight breeze , and it’s definitely warmer than it was. Hope you get the boiler sorted before any more arctic blasts.
YBE glad you are finding work bearable, and you’re just like Snow White with all the birds flocking around.
The Christmas bug has hit me, after the tree decorating at the hospice ,yesterday I had to do the work one. Now it’s the home one I think, as looking at December commitments I’ve not many chances to do it. I’m listening to Xmas songs too 🫣😂🎊Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
A quick pop in, it's dull & mildDD phoned to collect her “stuff” that I was storing during her house move, been doing that, hence why I'm late clocking onOnly gardening was my T & M Japanese anemones arrived, a bit disappointing because despite being named varieties they are all in one pack, so no idea what one is whatI'll plant up tomorrow I think, they are only roots so no growth to think about until SpringNice photos, Dusty , YBE & 2P. Well done, Dusty, on photo of the week - they were very tasty looking tomatoes
YBE, that bird of paradise really does look like a bird. Lovely holiday pics.
Thanks for the Redwing confirmation, Dusty. Is your sculpture long-tailed twits?? Very clever. And I love your weird starlings pic.
Beautiful moon pic, twopenny. I'm with you on the feeling gloomy about not getting into the garden. A bit random, but have you tried magnesium for your achy leg?? Apparently there's a magnesium spray that helps with aches, pains and restless legs and hips. My DSis uses it, plus a magnesium supplement.
That's annoying about the mixed Japanese Anemones, Farway, especially because they're different varieties. Oh well, it'll be interesting to see what pops up next year.
wort, I got my first Christmas card yesterday - I thought it was a wee bit early, tbh. We got our tree today, but it's tucked up in its netting in the garage for now.
We had a little wander along a beach while we were out (my first time properly outside for a few days), so photos were taken...

Does that mean that you usually give your stuff to the ladies to carryIf the noise is coming from the boiler when it gets really heated-up, it might be what's called 'kettling.' This happens when deposits block up bits of the heat exchanger. We used to have that in our old house. Being tight, when this happened, I'd drain out the system, run clean water through it for hours from the tank in the loft, and then refill, adding inhibitor. It wasn't as good as a pressure clean a proper heating chap would do, but it was almost free, and it lasted for about 12 -18 months.Err...my walking friend carries our necessities in a small rucksack. There's not much in there. I carry the camera and the map/guide.
We never take chocolate biscuits or 'nice' drinks. Those stay in the car as a reward.
Mrs Dusty won't carry anything for me, except our car keys. She thinks I'll lose those!

I'm sure the birds are the long-tailed variety of paridae. Who needs the swear filter? So pleased to hear you managed a walk again...and look at those pictures! Marvellous!

Didn't the anemones come in green pocket packs? If so each will have a letter stamped on it, indicating the variety.
Daffs - including buds - have popped up in the back border. Didn't expect them to appear so early, so hope the frost/wet doesn't see them off.8 -
Raining here, a bit. Mild though at 10'. Happy Winter everyone!
Bulbs up here too. I've some potted ones poking up, and mum+dad's are making a moveThey've got no chance of lasting I don't think cos there's squirrels galore up there.
I like your quotes Dusty, I've saved them into 'Notes' on my phoneThat Manbag looks a useful size
I'll not be getting a Lovely Neighbour job sadly. She's worked her way up the Notional Hilth Sarvice to the point where she doesn't have to actually really work. I wouldn't mind her wages though
Anyway. Fingers crossed walking friend shifts the lurgy soon
A french kitchen, that sounds exciting 2p. It's wondrous what you can find in charity shopsAye the tropical trees - the front one is a pair all twisted up with each other to make one big one, it was beautiful. I don't know what sort they are, but I took the pic cos I thought the whole scene was Just Right (itms). That was the street that had a drinking fountain on it iirr. I know granny used to say "blue and green should never be seen" but I like this -
Aww Snow White wortThat's about how pale I am when I'm sat in the bladdy cold lovely fresh air eating me sammich
Was it you saying you'd like to see christmas trees? We went to Posh Town yesterday and this is their offering this year
Is DD all sorted and settled in her house now Farway? Is Rodney helping or 'helping'?Aunty Vera walking stick ha haa!
Good to hear you're up and about again ppYour pics are very atmospheric, I can almost smell those chains. Is that place some sort of sea defence, or a Roman ruin...?
I wonder how many daffs etc we'll have left when the frost/wet finishes with them st.... I can see it being a bad year for them next year at this rate
OT It's raining ever such a lot now! No gardening today I don't think.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9 -
We're off to the Fatstock Show this morning, so I hope to have a Christmas tree piccie later, along with some not very PC photos of dead animals prepared chickens, turkeys etc. Weather's a little mixed, but it's basically sunny, and the 'good weather crisis' continues with 13-14c. And don't forget me babber too...although I don't know which part that is exactly from...Sorry your weather is still pants 2P. I'm just cutting out the middle man and using the tumble. My sister has anogh pants for at least two months. I thought that was such a good idea when I found out I thinked I've upped mine to three weeks after a cull a few months ago. Need more pants....So I had to look at the photos then after you said that and the cheetah hit me in the feels. That's an amazing cloud pic, the colurs are fab. And what does the thingy say? Can't quite read it.That's a good man bag Dusty, and I agree, pockets are a must, the more the merrier. Laughed at your resignation card for ybe too. I have one of those gilets too, for DIYFarway, oh yeah! You're supposed ot attach loads of badges to man bags aren't you? I have one that says F>>> off...but it's attahed the lapel or that area of my coat. I keep forgetting it's there until people say, oh, like your badge...I must get more made...are you beating off Vera's? and no, not like that either dirty minded people....And I completely feel the cold looking at those pictures PP...Threatening to wee down here but clinging onto dryness by the skin of it's teeth..Nuffin doing today, I have Jobs to do...

It's weeing down here Taff, very dull & dreary, I shan't be in the garden todaySilvertabby said:Dull here as well, but managed to finish pruning the apple trees before tomorrows rain and this weeks final garden waste bin collection.
Didn't the anemones come in green pocket packs? If so each will have a letter stamped on it, indicating the variety. No, the anemones were just all bunged in the same plastic bag with a handful of damp compostLuckily I was not intending to colour coordinate or posh stuff like that.
YoungBlueEyes said:Is DD all sorted and settled in her house now Farway? Is Rodney helping or 'helping'?Aunty Vera walking stick ha haa!
DD is settled in now, and all sorta sorted. Rodney has turned into a very friendly little devil apparently, they are not having a tree this year, no room + they think Rodney would probably have it in bits.Fell for a Black Friday offer from T & M, hyacinth bulbs, a Japanese quince, Salmon Horizon' Hydrangea, Limelight and floppy buddleia with silver leaves.LochinchThe shrubs will probably finish up in the volunteer patch, near where the TPO oaks are being felled. The Hydrangea should fill that space nicely over time. I've wanted Limelight ever since I saw it at Wisley, just never had the opportunity at the right price.I like the shore pics PP, very atmosphericHad to order another external hard drive, mine is indicating red, full up, it's all the pictures. I should, but don't, cull them, most are not worth keeping IMO, but the cull should have occurred earlier, it's just too daunting now.
Luckily it's still Black Friday sales so not feeling fully ripped off
