I missed the meteors too, Bluey, not because it was too late, or the sky was clouded, but after 5 minutes my ADHD kicked in. If they'd happened, or been as pretty as your dragonfly
I'd have persisted. I did check 2p's thunder on the 'puter, though. It was over the sea in the general direction of Cardiff, but it didn't build into anything. Your Cissie might have had more, by the look of it at that time.
Right now, the drunks say we are experiencing some cloud, which is true, but we also have spitting rain possibly for a couple of hours, so no sun cream till later. We'll be lucky to see 20c, which suits me.Yesterday, the middle of the day was lost to siesta time.
Like Farway last week, it's MoT time for us, so of course, the engine management light is on.Apart from that and a slightly worn Wangping Ditchfinder, I know of nothing amiss, but they always find something, don't they?
No new plant pictures, though I might usefully take one of my two Pokeweeds soon.Going back a few weeks, here's another sitooterie at the posh farm with the Mediterranean courtyard. This time it's waterside.

^^^ That'd do!
Talking to Beloved Cousin last night, she was saying they were going to get the brunt of it I think, the storms etc, and it was soo cold she said. She's getting another fill of oil for her and one for Cissie to get them 'til Autumn and then topping up for winterIt's all gone wrong out there, really it has.
I wonder if those ShetlandCam sites caught anything of the Lights last night...? I'll look later. I really have to get on with Domestic Nonsense now - my chewy brain won't accept cleaning on a Tuesday.
I didn't find anything startling in that French France yesterday, but only cos I gave up looking. The websites are too tricky and hard to use, not like RM. I only had a go round the 'place in the sun' one tbh, but it was cumbersome and I was on my phone.
Right stop being funny and interesting! DN calls.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -
That's a fancy sitooterie, Dusty. I liked your pond too, but that statue looked a bit precarious.
Nice looking apples, YBE. Rosy red. Like Farway said, I think apples should be Snow White red
We had torrential rain and thunder at 7.45 this morning - I saw it coming so closed the bedroom window just in time. It's calm now and we're even supposed to get the sun this afternoon - high of 17 degrees. I need to get into the garden and find somewhere to put the used tattie compost - at the moment it's piled up on the now flat anthill mob and another raised bit of the garden. I'm wondering if I find any more hidden tattiesWe had some boiled Kerr's Pinks last night - tbh they didn't boil very well (I'm wondering if steaming would be better) the leftovers will be shoved in the oven with oil and seasoning to go with tonight's Cajun chicken dinner. I'm looking forward to it already...

The Northern Lights were visible in Argyll, YBE, sometime after 1am. I was snoring at that time so didn't see them or the Perseids.'A watched potato will never chit'...8

YBE I think your dragonfly is a female common darter (they dull down as they age). I've seen the male form round our pond. I'm so amazed at all the lovely photos - I wouldn't have a hope of capturing such a detailed image.

Coincidentally, we've just topped-up with another 700l this morning.

If my primary school maths is correct, that's 50p each one. A bargain.
As for the canoodling couple, I agree, they should have had a more stable foundation, probably at the head of the top pool.

Car's back with shiny new MOT and a black patch near the off side wheel arch, sort of Pirate's Eye Patch for cars, to show battle scars & life well lived. Cost a few doubloons though. No storms here, but could do with one, it's very humidI have fig on the turn
, showing brown ripe shade. Put a net sock on it already, I'll have to keep my eye on the one.

Cost a few doubloons though. Can't do a quote but that is a lovely way of looking at it.Mines going into another garage tomorrow - guy says he's an electrical mechanic and while it will have to go on the dignositc machine he will be manually looking at connections and such...........Old styleThat's what's needed!Dusty I'm not a fan of that sitoorie or pond. It shows no imagination.Thunder and a bit of rain this morning. It has cleared the air a bit but not enough rain to sink into the soil so I used the bath water in bucket loads again. Good reason to allow an easing bath - also the 'Rainforest music' is the disc stuck in the player so the relaxing music is all I can play. It needs to work harder IMOGetting a lot done though without the ability to go somewhere nice.Very tired today and painful as I couldn't sleep for the heat last night and had to set off for garages and bank, play table tennis.................I've examined the blackfly etc, measured to move the sitoorie perhaps.I'm thinking of making room for a cheap greenhouse gismo for tomato plants where it currently is. Not comfortable with the two banging doors that doen't seem to worry them next door.Tomorrow is another day
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

twopenny said:Arbs that's a really interesting garden you have. And quite a sucess as you only began this year with the building and such. Yes, tomatoes are one of the greats to grow. Commercial ones grown in water only have 30% of the goodness and it shows.
I think the only reason it's so good this year is because all the soil is 'fresh' with no resident population of predators/disease lying in wait - plus more than half of it is bought compost/manure etc. That's not going to be replicated (hopefully) so I doubt it's going to be this easy or successful again.
My turn for envy - My little miss figgy has shown some leaves, so she's alive, but I think I failed to keep the weeds/grass suppressed at the right time because she didn't flower. Only planted this Jan, so I'm not going to hold it against her. Plus I really like the leaf shapesFarway said:I have fig on the turn, showing brown ripe shade. Too hot to do much this weekend, mostly just wanted to try and clear some space for the brussels to go in (not quite, but nearly). I did pick the first of my runner beans for with dinner yesterday. Gave a third to the nice neighbour, a third into the freezer, and a few for me to enjoy. I forgot you had to string them, but it worked out well enough.
Also, not sure if this works (still pic in case it doesn't), but something I've never seen before: https://youtube.com/shorts/Egu275chtb4
Bold as you like right there on my poor (I think) broccoli! I had the decency to wait until she'd moved on before 'dealing' with them...

AR, it looks like a case of 'when you gotta go, you gotta go', no matter if there's a human watching
I saw this on Faceache & it reminded me of this thread... garden centre, not center though...
