I'm going to go out on a limb, @Dustyevsky, and say that I think your picture is of an Emperor dragonfly. We had a good number emerge from our pond back in May.I've been deadheading, which is very meditative.Fashion on the Ration 2025 37/668

Spotted it as soon as refreshed page. Over £50 worth for under £15 inc postage!
Yum!Hard luck on the welding, but it's par for the course with older vehicles, and at least we don't suffer the 'invisible' cost of eye watering depreciation!

I wouldn't disagree. It was large. I spent far too much time trying to frame it, and not enough observing properly!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. I really like that shrub behind the poppy, Dusty. It looks familiar, but I couldn't tell you what it is. If you find out, I'd like to know though.
We drove past a couple of random pencil junipers (I didn't know that's what they were until I saw your post) yesterday afternoon, with a row of crocosmia next to them - very strange because they weren't attached to a garden or anything.
Congratulations on the sweetcorn, Farway.
As predicted, last night it rained pretty much constantly. I was fairly dry in my poncho, but it wasn't quite long enough to keep my bahookie dry when I sat down on the already very wet seatsWe didn't get home until after 1am and then spent an hour having a glass of wine decompressing after the long drive. Pitch black, big puddles and constant rain. Summer in Scotland...
Here's someone that likes the rain, spotted on my back doorstep this afternoon... Snail bum??...

I've been deadheading too Alice. Mine wasn't so meditative. Top of step ladder and a rampant rose. Scratched to heck and aching. I must follow your example tomorrowFunny posts, thanks for the smileLovely poppy pic, expecially with that background Dusty. No sign of the predicted rain so been watering. No sign of the blistering heatwave predicted.Chilly evening again which is nice.

So yesterday I got quite a bit done. Lots of deadheading, sorted out the pots and poles so it's more reasonable, poisoned the new bramble shoots popping up in the badger run, trimmed the jasmine that's not just run to the top of the 7ft fence but heading for the sky in a thick matCouldn't manage chopping the branches on the Elder. Have to get someone in to bring it down to my size. And finished the expanding trellis along the fence. The roses that were struggling seem to be taking off now they have more room.Picked raspberries, they've done well, forgot the plums. However something has been digging from the field under the fence and uprooted a shrub. So something big.Emptied and resealed the 'pond' and cleaned even though it probably doesn't need it but while the enthusiasm is there...............Of course now I'm cream Krackerd! It's not rained here enough to water the soil for about 3mts. Just like last year. I'm watering but it's not enough to get right down and things are suffering badly. It looks really poorly.Rain predicted for overnight hasn't happened.Heatwave still hasn't happened. It's grey skies and cool. A decent wind has just sprung up and birds staying close to the gardens. No idea what's going to happen weatherwise so can't plan the day.Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend planned to recover from all the ailments and rejuvinate.

I don't know what your plant is Dusty but I like it too. Looks a bit like somebody boil-washed a Black Scallop. I reckon i could find room for one.. I like the sitooterie too, very substantial. I definitely don't have room for that.
That's a bu99er about your car cancer Farway. Grin and bear it territory eh. And woohoo for sweetcorn!
Snail bum made me laugh ppAre you knee-deep in the swines up there too?
All our car things must come round at once. My MOT is due soon and it'll be another spendy one I fear. My exhaust is sounding a bit throaty
Glad you're sounding a bit brighter this morning 2p. You having a day of rest today then, after all that work yesterday?
Only a quick post this morning. Having waited patiently for weeeks for Bob the Builder to drag his erse of the Algarve golf courses, himself just got a call to say the cement mixer will be here about 10 ish. I might do gardening today cos the weather is good, bit cloudy but sunny and warm and the breeze has dropped. Pleased about that cos it knocked hell outta my swish roseI nipped into morries on my way home yesterday looking for paint (none to be had) so I lifted a plant just so it wasn't a wasted journey
It's a winter jasmine called Nudiflorum which I thought was appropriate, given all the talk of pusses and Richards and tits etc. I honestly don't know where I'll get it planted though, I really don't have any more room.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9 -

Yum!Hard luck on the welding, but it's par for the course with older vehicles, and at least we don't suffer the 'invisible' cost of eye watering depreciation!Happy to help.I've just been adding to my list, despite my previous "I've got enough" tomato remarks I've included Sungold, having noted your statement about them not being same from own seeds. Plus, 'cos I realised my lack of normal-sized toms, Shirley, Moneymaker & Outdoor GirlAnd problem solved for the 2025 handrail baskets, Tumbling Toms, I know someone mentioned flavour is indifferent, but I'm going for decorative as well. I'll have to double-check for alternative, just in case I missed one. With my new discovery of growing carrots, I'm going to try an F1 for a quid instead of £3.79And Kong Coleus, normally well beyond my price at £4.99 for ten seeds. I grew them a couple of years back and very impressive, leaves the size of hands. So for just under a tenner Inc. P & P, I've over £33 worth of seeds.Out feeding the pots in the back first thing, supposed to get hot & humid later so wanted to clear that task firstMy runners are doing great now, despite the slug fest start of the year. Not sure if weather or what, but Celebration is doing well. Should be eating my own beans by mid-week.Later today is grape glove groping, and pick loads of blackberries, plus another Morries success, my Heritage raspberry, £2.50 in March, has ripe raspberriesI'll have to weigh them just to compare price with packed ones.
Enjoy the wedding Dusty, some cuttings from the Brides Bouquet?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens9
