I i've been up the M5 today, exciting stuff
Is that code for something naughty?
If I go to see my fancy woman it's usually 'up the A377.'
But she isn't that fancy nowadays and we're just good mates. ....honest! o:)
Red dawn today, so I'd normally expect something horrible to follow, but we're promised sunshine, so I might bin the idea of doing the weekly shop... B)

Fancy woman, love it, i wonder what she refers to you as ? 😆😋
Old friend?  I'm old and I'm mostly friendly. o:)
Definitely not shopping today. Planting stuff. Wife is pulling stuff out. It's called equilibrium. :D

*makes note to self - if want to have an affair either travel up the M5 or the A377*  😹
    😜😝

late clocking on, early start & up to RHS Wisley this morning. had to be early because they now require a booked slot, no longer just turn up, nearly as hard as getting delivery slot from a supermarket
Rosemoor is the same, but to my knowledge they've never filled all the slots. On two occasions when I booked it poured down, but then I realised it was possible to get a slot the day before instead of playing 'guess the weather.' Been twice this year to Rosemoor, but sadly, many NGS gardens haven't opened at all. :(
My spies tell me there are 5 varieties of Addenda Hebes and more than one colour with some, so I'm confused already. :D Marketing ploy? Who cares, if they do the business. I'm keen to get a few as the ones I have are boring.
Got my planting by the stream done.....well, some of it anyway. Now our new neighbour tells us he's going to chop down about 6 trees, so there's a good chance of more sunshine down there and potentially a more exciting mix of plants. ;) In times past I've lost even 'bombproof plants' like  Purple loosestrife and Iris robusta, due to the shade.
Yes, several, i'd not really noticed them before but they fitted the bill and it was these purple ones that fit in with the planting scheme here 👍💜

However worth the effort in the warm sun, made a nice change from usual run of the mill day
The Canadian Memorial maples along the A3 at Bramshott looked their best in the sunshine.
I've never seen a forest of them but it must be spectacular

Wisley looked good, and glad to say lots of people, not crowded, but at least it's an income generated
    Here's a taster

Absolutely love Wisley, if i lived closer to it i'd be there regularly 💖💖
    Nothing wrong with Rosemoor..... :p

Looks nice Dave, prompted me to have a satellite view of the place. From the air it looks smaller than Wisely but I guess the trees are specimens with flowers under or similar?
    Something like this?

Not sure there's that many cyclamen but there is woodland both sides, not all of it accessible to the public, especially on the river flank ad some is pretty steep. Not as large as Wisley, but great that I can live in the wilds, yet go there and then do shopping afterwards in Torrington without without any great effort.

  • Another vote for Rosemoor and I have to vote for Wisley too because my son used to work at one of its related gardens, that's the son who wouldn't know a spade from a fork in the garden but can tell me the Latin name and classification of every plant he comes across
Love living in a village in the country side

I've bolded the bit about the river because Wisley had the same situation until recently
The steep banking area was left as "scrub" although I'm sure it was ecologically fine, but with the lock down period they have taken the opportunity to provide a gently sloped pedestrian access path to the riverside and made it a grassy area with seating, enabling us gardening plebs to watch the golfers on the other side of the River Wey as we scoff our packed lunches

Maybe a plan for the future at Rosemoor?

  • Best to make the most of days out to those lovely places as Lockdown looms ever closer 😔
Just my opinion, no offence 🐈

They might not want to upset those with fishing rights, unless it's them of course, but they show a path there anyway, even though it's not in the public access bit. Methinks a little investigation's due. I don't think it's the Tarka trail as that veers off at Torrington. Hmmmm... :*
Last time I was a bit naughty and branched-off off along the Torridge at Halsdon Nature Reserve when I was supposed to be 'protecting the otters,' I ended up in a field of cows....except one, which was a magnificent Charolais bull. He was very well catered-for though, so I pressed-on, only to get a telling-off from two ladies who were in a hide at the other end of the long field. They'd been taking bets on whether I'd seen him and if I'd be chased! :D

Nobody will be locking us down where I am, but I guess the RHS may lock us out. We have miles of Forestry Commission land here and they can't close that. :)
