Yes, thanks Brambling.
I think one of the reason I don't write it down is that if I did, I could no longer be in denial about all the little extras that sneak their way in.

Good morning everyone I hope you’re all safe and dry this soggy Sunday.
Artytarty don’t beat yourself up (Rule 1 of this thread - be kind to yourself! ) it’s possible that one or more of the treats you had last week was something you are extra sensitive to, which is where writing it all down is helpful in identifying your personal villains. It doesn’t even have to be dramatic, just an innocent-looking “little something”. You may find you’ll need long term to find a “new normal” after you’ve reached your target weight. Also remember that weight tends to fluctuate even without treats, but if the general trend is downwards you’re doing well. Brambling’s BIL has probably got it right in that he gets rid of any increase as soon as possible, before it’s had time to make itself comfy.
Weighing in with a gain of 3lb for which I entirely blame Senior Doggy . He’s been unwell and between worrying about him and being up and downstairs several times some nights, a bit too much eating has happened. I’ll spare you most of the gory details, but the 2 bowls of oatmeal with creamy milk and a teaspoonful of honey at 11.30 last night definitely won’t be helpful.
Meal plan for today:
B : porridge with water and a teaspoon of honey (shouldn’t have bought the honey, but it’s supposed to be to have with lemon in case of colds!)
D : grilled steak with cauliflower and carrots; raspberries & yogurt
T : cheese with olives and an apple
S : sadly I’ve already had a square of 85% dark chocolate, hopefully that’s all for today.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️5 -
Thank you, ill try to Hold onto the fact that the general trend is downwards.
i completely understand the elderly animal related stress eating. Been there got the t shirt as they say.
i complain that little white cat keeps me awake by sleeping between my pillow and the headboard thus causing me to sleep like a Z shape because i am 5 9 or 10, cant remember which!Turns out I cant sleep without him as i was up at half past two looking for him because he hadnt come to bed! Armchair find of course.
today may not be great for me as I have my elderly mother coming for dinner, we always have a gin or two and then i like to feed her up. I eat well too as its not worth the hassle of her saying i dont need to lose weight.
so far
breakfast- one weetabix and a cup of tea.
lunch- bowl of vegetable and noodle soup.
dinner- pork loin chop, mashed potato, i dont ever eat much not been keen on them,
roast butternut squash and carrot, steamed cabbage.
dessert will be a stewed apple and sponge Affair with a small spoonful of custard.
there may also be a glass of wine.
snacks- coffee only.
its not great, i am aware, but its Mums day, keeps her going and i send her home with leftovers.Norn Iron Club member 4734 -
Artytarty - This is just an observation on why I think I’m finding it difficult just now even though I think I’m eating quite well. I am definitely not moving around as much and, therefore, I’m not burning the calories so even something a little extra is making a difference. Since lockdown I’ve barely been out and it is showing as weight gain. Probably doesn’t apply to you but might be a consideration. I agree, though, if it is generally going down it is heading in the direction. Don’t be discouraged.

It's been an interesting couple of weeks, I don't normally take annual leave this late in the year. What a way to end it, a nice lively storm with lots of rain!. Just thankful I've got a roof over my head, no leaks or flooding and feeling reasonably healthy. Haven't been for a walk (or should that be paddle) since Thursday and really noticing the difference. Still, got a few things done. Had an eye test on Thursday, bit surreal with the opticians wearing PPE and I had to wear gloves as well as a mask. Really pleased, my eyesight is still really good but I'm always a bit wary as they make their money on the glasses and if they find the tiniest thing wrong it's 'glasses will give a bit of definition' which is fine but you become dependant before you actually need glasses. I would rather wait until I need them.
Could be an interesting WI this week, whilst I haven't been over eating think the lack of exercise might not be helpful.
Artytarty I'm also tall, (5ft 10") and have the same thing with my cat in bed at night. Mine is actually a good weight loss tool, he spends a lot if time on my lap which stops trips to the kitchen as I have to tolerate temper tantrums if I chuck him off. When I do escape, he follows me every time I go to the kitchen for any reason and sits expectantly by his food bowl. I wish I knew what the answer is about keeping weight off for a reasonable length of time, really seems to be hit and miss and possibly a lifetime of being strict which isn't the most appealing prospect.

Well, I've had a good start this weekend, although not as low carb as maybe I would like.
Breakfast: Milky coffee in a tiny cup (so only about 75ml)
Lunch: Scrambled egg on HM sourdough toast - 3 eggs but just one small slice of toast
Dinner: 2 chicken thighs with peas and carrots, small banana
Snacks: Two more tiny milky coffees and one small square of dark chocolate
Exercise: 90 minutes of tennis, half doubles and half singles, 40 minute walk
Mini victory - I made sponge puddings for the family who always come for Sunday dinner and didn't eat any of the mixture as I made it. I can easily resist the pudding but not scraping the bowl is torture!!
I found a programme on the computer called Visualize Me, where you can create an avatar that looks like you - put in weight, height, hair colour etc and then look at what you would like like at different weights. It was quite inspiring but made me realise that being only five foot tall I am never going to look like a willow wand!!

Thank you Brambling for organising this! My target will be 9 pounds. With Christmas and some birthdays coming up, it will be a challenge!

I digress, the above lead to me eating one weetabix and two pieces of fresh baguette with marmalade.Im just annoyed with the world today, maybe iWill feel better after my Yoga class, for The sake of everyone else I hope so!Norn Iron Club member 4734 -
Oh Artytarty, my heart bleeds for you. I'd love to be able to say "Do this. Do that, and everything will be OK." Sadly, that is not the case. As a...I was going to say veteran dieter, but in all honesty it's more of a VINTAGE, dieter, I have to disabuse you of any idea that losing weight is simple, or that you will have to do it only once and it is finished with. There are no answers.
All I can say is, don't be too strict with yourself. That is the easiest way to get fed up with the whole thing, make one mistake and then eat everything not nailed down before you beat yourself up, go back and start the whole sorry hair shirt thing again.
I have found it best to give myself a window of about 4 pounds. As long as I stay within that 4 pounds I'm OK. If I ever hit the bottom weight of the window I move the 4lb window down a pound. It takes ages, but you get there in the end. If you ever go over the top of the window it is a smacked-wrist day.
I read this on another forum.
The 5 stages of a woman's life.
Grow up.
Fill out.
Slim down.
Hold it in.
To hell with it.
I reckon that's about right.I believe that friends are quiet angels
