Yesterday was NSD No 6
I must admit my lovely break here is becoming increasingly stressful because of the uncertainty surrounding increased restrictions in Northumberland. Pubs and restaurants closing wouldn’t affect me unduly although I do feel for the staff but if there’s a ban on overnight stays I don’t know what that would mean for us. We’re booked for another two weeks and couldn’t get home because we don’t drive and don’t have a car. Very rural where we are. It would take four bus journeys to get us back and take hours on public transport. The Boy is coming to take us home at the end of the holiday but because of work and other circumstances can’t get here before that . Everything considered we’d be far safer where we are for the time being. Himself says not to worry but how can I not. I’m hoping that should the worst happen the owner might take pity on us. We’ve been more than sensible all through this.

Toni'sfriend - try to relax. You cannot change the situation. Maybe talk to the owner? Personally, I do think it would be daft for you to have to trek back on all that public transport, so waiting for The Boy is the best option.

Toni's friend - the airports are all still open, people are still traveling around for work, up and down to London Town. There are adverts on the tv every day for October UK staycations. You are somewhere for a pretty hefty length of time, being sensible, keeping to your bubble, not traipsing about the place licking lamp-posts or strangers. If the owner is fine with you staying there for the agreed length of time, and boy is happy to come pick you up safely at the end of your stay, then just hang on in there. Enjoy your duck and goose formations and try not to worry about things you cannot change - it is one week til half term here in LeShire and in two weeks for the rest of the country. So you have planned it nicely for avoiding the busy bits, and have probably managed to get away before they put more punative measures in place. If they are going to do it, they will do it in half term/ just after half term if they fear the backlash from parents and hotels owners. The way this year has gone we are probably in for the coldest, snowiest end of year since records began, so enjoy your time away before you come back to reality - it is your last planned jaunt for the year isn't it? I wouldn't be booking another one if I were you now. Just enjoy the change of scenery, stress is not good for the immune system.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Thank you all for that. Been speaking to some friends in the village today and they are all saying it would be the end of the economy here. The owner is a lovely lady and I’m sure she wouldn’t throw us out but I am very law abiding and would hate to put her in a position where she could potentially get into trouble. However, when I see people doing far worse .... Anyway, Himself has just taken me for a pub lunch. First time since we came here. Everyone else seems quite laid back. Must be me😊
I’m beginning to think logic and common sense have gone out the window.
We have an annual holiday booked in the Lake District in December. There don’t seem to be any major restrictions there. I can’t understand this huge difference across the country. Can’t just be people not sticking to the guidance.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.7 -
True @Toni'sfriend. My inbox is full of invites from hoteliers in the Lakes for Autumn Leaf holidays and the like. There needs to be some kind of official announcement soon, there are too many businesses that need to know what on earth is going on. That way nobody would be able to say they did not understand the rules...and for the people breaking the rules - who had no intention of following the rules in the first place, they would not have a leg to stand on. I know it is annoying , but if there is a - no travel more than 5 miles from home - announcement, at least you know where you stand, and some kind of compensation could be arranged for the businesses.Anyway, I can control what goes on in my kitchen, so I have stuffed ( and then exploded) my free apples, made a plum and free apple crumble, and poached my free pears, all made and cooling, and my kitchen smells lovely. Plans to make a stew for lunch tomorrow and a chili for supper and lots of custard in my future. Including a custard tart topped with my pears. So I will be getting my 5 a day and then some. My children assure me that fruit crumbles are definitely breakfast food.No spends planned. Nothing needed, but I am going to put my heating on now as the temperature has dropped in the last hour, and I am not lighting my candles until after supper. Lighting candles signifies staying on the sofa. It is a special code.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Tonis friend, agree with other people - try to relax and stay put. I feel this constant shuffle of rules is putting a lot of peoples livelihoods and plans at risk, and really putting a lid on everything - even more so than what seems necessary.
I'm mostly happy though to stay at home and keep my money in my pocket, but at the same it is very quiet as well, socially, but at the moment that is what I want, I have too much teaching in the week to want to hang around other people just for the sake of it.
My life this time of the year is lived in tiny little chunks between lessons and planning. Today I saw a kingfisher when I went running, so that will probably last me for the week.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Spent in Tesc0 today on normal groceries and some chocs for DD's bday and an advent calendar for DS3.
Put maybe 10 things in new CS bag today and sold and gave away a few things on fbook (only a few £ but things have left the building!) Also binned a very stretched and way too small for anyone elasticated belt...
