Thank you for sharing. I applied last Thursday. No news yet...crikaus said:My experience of opening a HSBC advanced account
Applied 20/9 accepted and filled in the cass switch form at the same time, said would received an email immediately, no email arrived, finally welcome email arrived 3 days later (are they doing manual checks?) explaining the account and following will arrive in the post: sort code & account number, debit card, pin, credit card (if applicable) and telephone banking ID
Few days later debit card and pin arrive, separately IIRC
30/9 switch current account confirmation papers arrive
2/10 telephone banking ID arrives (hurrah!)
One thing that MAY identify if your telephone banking ID is in the post is to call 03457404404, enter your sort code and account number, if the auto voice asks for certain digits of your your telephone ID it could mean they've already registered it and it's in the post and you can end the callOpinion Panel £50 Lightspeed: £40 Pigsback: £303 Valued Opinions: £365 Media Transfer: £32 Juicy Brains- £30 American Consumer Opinion: £16 Freebie Networks: £220 Cashback Sites: £1503.87 Competitions: £200 Total Cash Value: £2759.87 Last updated: April 20230 -
You couldn't make it up. After posting on here about how to phone up to get the telephone security code, which in turn gives you access to internet banking, I have today received a letter from them saying that the phone call I made to get the telephone code, generated a security issue and that as a result my account is blocked. The letter is dated the day I made that phone call. I am supposed to fill in a form enclosed with the letter and send it back to them to unblock the account. However, I have checked and I still have full access to internet and mobile banking.

No communication about the switch from either HSBC or the donor bank. However, a peruse of internet banking reveals old standing orders and direct debits from the donor bank.1 -
I opened an HSBC Advance account for the switching bonus today. I note one of the conditions attached to the account is paying in £1750/month. What happens if you don't?

You don't get the bonus and the account may be closed.0

Website also says £1750 a month or £10500 over 6 months, what happens if you don't add anything for say 5 months and then switch to another bank, surely that meets all their terms and conditions.0

The Offer Payment
3. If you meet all of the eligibility criteria, we will make a payment of £125 to you within 30 days of the switch completion date for the eligible current account (the “Offer Payment”).
The Offer Payment will be made by a direct credit into the eligible current account that you open.

I switched to HSBC a few years ago when there was a generous deal but I recall it was a very long winded affair even then. Now that the 5% RS has gone that will be (yet) another a/c to switch!!
There was also a Reward CC specifically for Advance customers. I think it was showing a bonus welcome handshake when I looked last week. I took mine out last year and have just managed (today) to spend the reward. It rejected my fuel purchase last week!!! I find it quite hard to navigate online (app might be fine) and the rewards are not earned on every purchase- a lot of ineligible purchases- but might be worth a look when you have switched.
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

They still have the top RS rate (alongside their M&S and FD brand), by a very wide margin.Katiehound said:I switched to HSBC a few years ago when there was a generous deal but I recall it was a very long winded affair even then. Now that the 5% RS has gone that will be (yet) another a/c to switch!!
