movingon said:Card came about two days later and the PIN two days after that. Then I phoned up and set up telephone banking, and from there was able to log in online. But no indication that the switch itself is proceding.
If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you!0 -

Applied last Sunday (20th), had one text message from HSBC, and other than that no other communication from them (email/post/text). In all the years I've been banking in the UK this has been the most bizarre experience. Their lack of communication is very frustrating as the full current account switch is due to take place this Friday, and there isn't as much as a debit card. I appreciate these are unprecedented times, but I'm baffled by it all.0

I never got my HSBC account fully functional. They gave me £50 compensation for their ineptness.0

After 30 minutes listening to the crappy hold music on the phone to HSBC, luckily I used Amazon Alexa so didn't cost me anything, I got through to HSBC's call center in India. and I got to speak to someone who I couldn't understand half the time because of his accent.
I eventually got to the purpose of my call, a telephone banking security number so I could set up an online account.
The system for doing this is automated and the rep, after trying for 10 minutes, couldn't get it to work.
The system was down.
So I will get a letter in 5 to 7 days.
Once I get the £125 bribe I will never use HSBC again.

I've heard a few horror stories about HSBC but I was drawn in by the £125 and the access to the regular saver with 2.75%. I've not heard much from them since I completed the forms to switch (1 text message) but if it continues in this way, I don't see me being an HSBC customer for very long either.Opinion Panel £50 Lightspeed: £40 Pigsback: £303 Valued Opinions: £365 Media Transfer: £32 Juicy Brains- £30 American Consumer Opinion: £16 Freebie Networks: £220 Cashback Sites: £1503.87 Competitions: £200 Total Cash Value: £2759.87 Last updated: April 20230

So today, exactly nine days after applying, I got a Welcome Pack email, at last. They seem to take forever doing their checks etc. st999, that's smart with Alexa, ought to try it. Hopefully you'll be up and running in no time.
Jemsnation hopefully you'll hear soon from them, fingers crossed.

My experience of opening a HSBC advanced account
Applied 20/9 accepted and filled in the cass switch form at the same time, said would received an email immediately, no email arrived, finally welcome email arrived 3 days later (are they doing manual checks?) explaining the account and following will arrive in the post: sort code & account number, debit card, pin, credit card (if applicable) and telephone banking ID
Few days later debit card and pin arrive, separately IIRC
30/9 switch current account confirmation papers arrive
2/10 telephone banking ID arrives (hurrah!)
One thing that MAY identify if your telephone banking ID is in the post is to call 03457404404, enter your sort code and account number, if the auto voice asks for certain digits of your your telephone ID it could mean they've already registered it and it's in the post and you can end the call
