Although the app gives the current interest rate I cannot find any further info about the account although I am sure there will be more info about it by logging in via the website.
I know the interest rate includes a .5% bonus and I think the .7% is variable but do you think Skipton will keep it that way during the bonus period? It might go up,... it might go down,...it might stay the same;...it’s been such an unprecedented year anything could happen.
“There are those who don’t know,...and the rest don’t know they don’t know”
As clear as mud thanks......but that's what I asked and it will remain variable
I should have asked if Skipton had previously withdrawn a viable account so quickly and then reduced the rate a few weeks later.

For info, I got the following error message when I submitted my bank account details."Sorry we've been unable to verify you are named on the account. To make changes to the information below select 'edit details'. Please be mindful not to resubmit the same information again."
@RG2015 It’s perhaps??? something to do with the new CoP ‘Confirmation of Payee’ rules that Banks et al have been rolling out this year.
Just a suggestion (I’m certainly no expert in this field!) but maybe you could try entering your name exactly as it appears on your Bank statements.
https://www.which.co.uk/news/2020/03/confirmation-of-payee-which-banks-are-ready-to-offer-vital-name-checking-service/
I have tried again and ignored the error message and re-submitted the details which were accepted despite them saying not to re-submit the same details again.
I was then requested to email them a recent bank statement which I did and I am now awaiting this to be actioned by Skipton.@RG2015 I assume (perhaps wrongly) that a second input of exactly the same info will automatically elicit a response from Skipton that asks for a copy your bank statement,...hence the caveat.
I’m still leaning toward CoP rules being the stumbling block. All the big hitters were supposed to have implemented CoP earlier this year but CV19 threw a spanner in the works and they’re all apparently at different stages of implementation.
I didn’t take any particular care when I ‘named’ my linked account but nonetheless it was set-up immediately,..same with my wife’s new Skipton account.
Perhaps you’ve fallen foul of the CoP rules because your Bank is ahead of the game, and my Bank (NatWest) isn’t;
...just musing really,... what the hell do I know.

It’s a bit haphazard really. My first choice was NatWest but that failed as did Santander, HSBC, Virgin Money and First Direct. Nationwide was the first not to fail first time but that asked for a bank statement which was no good because my last one is too old.

My Nationwide said that they didn't recognise me, then added it anyway!
My Monzo, didn't recognise my name, despite being the same as on my account, and the one I deposited the funds with, and asked for bank statement.
Sent and was verified in 1h 20min.
Not too bad.
Both nominated accounts now active, although I cannot make a withdrawal (don't want to yet anyway) until end of the month (14 days)2 -
They say they have been inundated so have pulled the account after 2 1/2days
I suppose its a credit to them that their website kept going.

Just for others considering the account you can operate online via laptop etc but, even if you decline to give mobile in application process, you will need to download the Skipton app to be able to do certain functions, including withdrawing money! The App is also used as a 2FA device.
Opening experience smooth for me. Awaiting postal letter now so I can register the App.
That is correct, we do have an alternative to the app which is the grid card, although this will be removed in the coming months in favour of a one-time passcode feature which is sent via text - more on this to come soon!
In the meantime, the app is the best way to keep your account safe and monitor your account. Feel free to contact our customer service or Twitter/Facebook team if you have any questions!Well the grid card is pointless if you are withdrawing it.As for one-time passcode, I have this problem with Ford Money - no mobile phone and unlike eg Marcus, they won't send it to my email address. Will you?Alternatively Ford WILL send it to my email if I ring each time and request this - but that means ages on the phone and security etc etc.Still no answer to whether I can manage the account via laptop and landline for one-time passcode.Sent them a secure message but the only reply I got was "We see you have successfully opened your account", but no answers to my specific quesions.I won't be crediting the account till I get answers.0 -
From what I've been told: currently app or grid card works, you can't use both; then the grid card is phased out; the app of course continues and hopefully they expect to provide text to smart phone (OTP) as the alternative. Suits me.0
