Forget the fact that it is a council flat - that is irrelevant, its this undeclared income that is the problem

We are only assuming its undeclared because the OP says it is.

She says she overheard him saying he made £1000 per month on ebay and had several bank accounts.

Thats not unusual if you trade on ebay.I keep a seperate account for by ebay buying and selling, nothing dodgy just makes it easier to keep track of.

Maybe the guy is doing well enough on ebay to use it a second income so that he can give himself a decent lifestyle and help support his 2 children
How does a brown cow give white milk, when it only eats green grass?
  • Is this just chinese whispers?

Has seven bank accounts? earns £1000 a month tax free?

If you think he is doing something wrong then inform someone, if the guy is just working hard and is in a good job then whats wrong?

Im a techie and get a lot more than 15k and i drive a new car.
  • He might have got it all on credit...
  • good point, he might be living the plastic dream.

(some techie i am, dont know how to quote your post!!)

He should be VERY careful as HMRC would be interested in his UNDECLARED income:rolleyes:

For all we know, he may be declaring it & earning £1000 AFTER TAX - it is possible, even if you live in a council flat.

BTW, how does the OP know so much about him, down to the amount of maintenance, number of bank accounts, value of car & that it was bought cash - although, if he saved up, he COULD pay cash, and probably got a discount for it.

feel the need to add to this myself and my DH live in a lovely council house in a lovely area at the top of scotland, we are the only ones in his whole family who live in a "council house" and who ever have . my house is lovely, area is lovely and we are not on benfits. we live within our means but are proberly well off compared to most. we dont want the big morgage hanging over our head and half out salary going out on the house .

i feel better now i love this site but hate the rubbish i hear about council houses and council estates.

I know a guy who lives in a 1 bed council flat, and drives a rather expensive new-ish car, always buying expensive bottles of wine, eating out, spends £200 on a night out, and pays £350/month in child support to his 2 children (from 2 different partners). He's only a technician, so I presume he earns around £15k PA...

Something just doesn't add up. I'm sure there's a queue for council flats, so not sure how a single bloke who seems to have so much money got one! And he was talking about getting a new car, paying in cash, which costs £16k!!

This morning I heard him talking about how he makes £1000 a month buying and selling stuff on ebay, and he has 7 bank accounts! At least that would explain all the free cash and extravagant life style.

Is that legal? I have no idea about child support costs either, but I do know he pays around £350 a month for the 2 kids, so I suppose that would be right for just a technician salary??

I read all these stories about people who desperately want a council flat, and yet here's some guy living in one, with all this cash to splash... hardly seems fair. His family all live in council flats, so does that mean he has a better chance of getting one?

What a thoroughly nasty and unpleasant post

    Get a life

Wow a whole extra 12 K a year, quick assemble the mob, light the torches and lets make an example of him. Its a shame he pays his child support you could have had him strung up as well.

What a load of twaddle, OP mind yer own business, there is a hint of bunny boiler about your post.

And dont get confused with Tax evasion - Illegal and Tax avoidance which is a perfectly legal business practice.
