Afternoon all
@determined_new_ms apart from chutney (you can't buy anything like home made chutney unless from a WI or farmers market or similar) my go to tomato glut use up is roasted tomato sauce. Wash the tomatoes if needed, cut off any rotten bits, cut up if big ones and place in a roasting tray. Add some garlic cloves (no need to peel), season with salt and pepper and a pinch of sugar, sprinkle with olive oil and roast till they collapse. I then put the whole lot through a mouli sieve, but if you don't have one, an ordinary sieve will do, and the skins will be easy to pick off before you do it. You can also add a chilli if you like (before it goes into the oven). This freezes well and makes a lovely pasta sauce, or you can add it to recipes, or add stock and make into soup - it isn't my idea, but Hugh F-W's. He adds bacon I think but I don't bother - we don't have a problem with a veggie meal a few times a week, and this makes a nice one, with cooked pasta added and parmesan grated over. Really easy meal in the winter as well, you can even take it straight out of the freezer and heat it slowly to defrost while you are cooking your pasta and grating your parmesan
Cake day today, made 2 small lemon drizzle cakes (froze 1), a batch of scones (froze half) and a coffee sponge which I took round to DD as that is her family's favourite
Apart from that I have checked the banks, watered the veggies and cooked veg to go with the rest of the liver and bacon casserole I made yesterday. Not my favourite, but one of OH's, and I am happy to have just a little with some of the lovely gravy, onions etc with some mash and veg

Morning
I woke up at a lovely 7am and have utter peace and quiet with coffee. Bliss!
Today madam is coming home, I'm making a roast for dd, madam and dg2
dg2 isn't een 8 months yet and is crawling!
Today:
* some sanding - figuring if I keep putting it here at some point I'll be embarrassed enough to do it!
* nip to lidl got oh to do it
* nip to allotment for an hour
* put band on skirt, hem it and shorten a top - didn't shorten top because it's a bit small for me atm. No point in doing it and being disappointed
Have pinned it up and pressed it so when it fits will be a quick job
* start looking at pattern instructions so I can start figuring out what size pieces I need
* get madam's lunch ready for tomorrow. Did my weekly plan for it yesterday - it helped so much last week. I have cut down the amount I'm putting in. They get less time for break now and she's been leaving loads so now it will be sandwich/wrap/pasta, fruit, 1 savory treat and 1 snacky treat (usually a hm muffin)
* games afternoon with oh & madam
* make some marrow & ginger jam
* carry on knitting 2nd sock
* list 3 things to sell/give away
Ok more than enough! Have a great Sunday guys

Lovely September morning here
I'm a bit bleary eyed because we got up extra early to go to a market. Walked the dog in the dark before we went. Definitely lots of coffee needed!Think I am going to make marrow chutney today, to use up 2 enormous escaped courgettes that I discovered the other day. All that chopping, boiling and potting will keep me busy for a while.Other things:Pack up an ebay item that I have soldA bit of business paperworkMake quesadillas for dinner (roll some HM chilli in wraps, put the rolls in a dish, pour HM tomato sauce over, cover with grated cheese, bake till everything is hot and sizzling. V. filling, only needs a salad to accompany it

Morning folks
@alt80 - I defintely found it was a learning curve not buying things. Plus I think your brain needs time to adapt. It's like that feeling of not looking at your phone if you are a phone person. My OH can't be left for 1 minute without picking it up and looking at it if he isn't being entertained in some way (i.e. talking to him, cooking etc). I think your brain gets used to the stimulus. It's a bit cold turkey at first but it gets easier. I was looking through my credit history recently and I hadn't realised that even though we paid the cards off in 2013, it took TWO MORE YEARS to stop using them at all. I realised that I was using them every so often to do/buy things to try and make OH happier. What we didn't realise was that he was suffering from undiagnosed depression and PTSD. So every so often he would launch into a rant about how crap our life was, so I'd buy something to try and make it better for him. A new guitar, a mini break, a fancy meal out. After he got better, our spending went down a lot!
Yesterday ran away with me a bit. We ended up doing some preserving and then out into the garden to trim the trees a bit more. I've been feeling a bit tired and I think I'm fighting off the cold that my boss has. Pretty sure it's not covid - more like a snuffly nose, dry throat and achy sinuses. Feel ok though so taking it easy today and doing some sewing. I have decided to tackle the Ghost of Christmas Pasts' trousers. I have drawn out a pattern and made a toile. It looks ok so I'm going to go gung ho on the velvet now! Felt quite proud of myself for making a pattern from scratch. Not sure how I'll fare when I got to his robes though
Other than that, knitting is on the cards and then up to the allotment to have a tidy round and cut the grass.
Have a good one all

Have almost converted a cs dress to skirt - but can't decide on length - ankle or over knee?
Yes I am procrastinating!
And yes it takes a long time to get off the cards, unfortunately I now don't have c cards. But I am stashing bits away on my rev0lut card, so I hope eventually I might make an impulse purchase - or buy when I see the right thing at the tight price, from my list. I will eventually need a pair of new shoes!Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama5 -
Hi September Savers,A blessed, sunny day off. Well, all my plans to post regularly were derailed by my car breaking down; it still isn't fixed.
Part of the clutch failed halfway round a hairpin bend en route to work 10 days ago. Luckily my bike was in the boot at the time.
My commute to work is easy by car but a nightmare without one. I've been using combinations of buses, trains and very long cycle rides to get around. Some days I can get to work in 50 mins this way and other days it's been 2.5 hours.
Hopefully, I'll get my car back in a day or two and I can resume my 25 min commute. My garage is snowed under with work. Probably going to cost £375 to repair the car and get it through the MOT.
What's more, I've been paying train fares and not once had my ticket checked on the train which smarts a bit.Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Six:Checked online banking.Alarm clock off at the wall during day time.Turn off Wifi box when not using it.Do some online voluntary work.Buy a Day Ticket when using buses to save 30p a day.Re-evaluated my Charity giving.Waited 3 weeks for delivery of trainers from the US to get them cheaper.Packed lunches to work.Serviced bike myself. Realised the reason why my front light kept slipping on the handlebars is because I had installed it wrong two years ago. Idiot..I was going to buy a new one.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama6 -
Hope you get your car back soon Ally, your commute sounds horrendous
Made my marrow chutney, and am very pleased with it. I decided that the recipes in my books were too boring, so looked for something more interesting on the internet. I used this one http://www.thereallygoodlife.com/463/spicy-marrow-chutney-recipe/ if any fellow giant courgette owners are interested. It is lovely, hot, sweet and sour all together. It made 4 and a half jars. Good use of a couple of overgrown courgettes!
