What small DFW things will you do this week 1409/20?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning guys
thought I'd start us off
Things for me today:
* washing & line dry - didn't have enough for a full load. Will wait until tomorrow when I change the bedding
* yesterday's dinner today as we ate out yesterday
* sew up the jumper I cut out last night
- partially. made some further alterations to the pattern pieces, sewed bodice at the shoulders and added the sleeve. May very well finish tomorrow. Very pleased with my progress
* add waistband to a skirt that has been sitting in my pile of things to do for longer than I care to say! (Honestly this is a 20 minute job! ) didn't get round to
* carry on with meal plan and shopping list for this week - incorporating as much from freezer/larder as possible!
* turn heel on sock didn't turn the heel but did the flap
* list 3 things to sell
* take dog for walk I didn't because my tooth was hurting so much. I went but 10 mins in I had to go back.Oh took the dog for a mega walk
* oh off today so we're going to crack on with the kitchen
boo we didn't do anything!
Ok that's me. Hope you all have a good start to the week

Morning all
Thanks for starting us off DNMS
BBC warnings about another heat wave seem to have been toned down, at least for here. It was chilly enough to wear a coat for my 6.30 am dog walk, and is pleasantly warm and sunny now. It is supposed to climb to 26 degrees later though. No rain expected for a while either, so garden watering will be needed again. Should be ok for today as I did it yesterday.Today's plans:Dog walk (Done)Load of washing, now on line outsideLoad up car and take items to my sales unit to restock (Done before it got too hot!)Clean bathroom (Done)List another item on FB marketplacePut items brought back from sales unit awayClean really dirty internal window in loungeSome gardening jobs - the tomatoes are quite blighty now, so the worst ones can go. Will refresh the compost in the big pots they were growing in, and plant with perpetual spinach / chard. I also have a big trough to empty so that OH can repair it.Check banks and do a bit of finance adminDinner will be cold chicken, jacket potatoes and saladHave a good day everyone

Thanks for starting us off @determined_new_ms 😊
Today I have line-dried laundry and made a pasta sauce with stuff from the garden. Had a spendy weekend due to a family celebration but it was budgeted for so no debt incurred 😉
I'm making some raspberry and blueberry balsamic later - buying flavoured balsamics is ridiculously expensive 🙈 - so it saves me a fortune! I'll pull some beetroot once the balsamic is done and pickle it - it's like the taste of summer in the depths of winter and I love it! 😊6 -
Hello,
New to the board, also on mortgage free but given I have a car loan we want paid off too, I've been finding this board has really helpful advice.
Debt free plans for the week:
- WFH still, so line dry clothes post washing
- Stick to the meal plan
- Batch cooked a chicken curry (3 dinners)
- Make more homemade energy balls (have all ingredients, these are cheaper and healthier than shop bought!)
- Meeting friends but bringing picnic instead of eating out
- Review wardrobe - can I sell anything / donate / bin (haven't done this for about a year, so well due a clear out)
- Commence sewing projects (have purchased all materials, now to get making!) these are cheaper than the versions I wanted to buy so having fun and saving money!Current mortgage (1 Jun 2022): £289,501 - originally £351,999 got to love London sized mortgages!
OP Goal 2022 = 3.75% in OPs: £6,975 / £13,200
Emergency Fund Target: 3 months saved ✅

Thank you @determined_new_ms for this weeks thread. Hope the dentist goes ok tomorrow.
@rugbymadfamily welcome to the thread
Hi to all
First day I've felt more like pre-covid, which has been nice.
* Kids at school (will see a big drop in electricity usage now!)
* Made @PurpleFairy26 's mushroom stroganoff (its a family favourite now!) - used lots of mushrooms that needed using up plus the last of the cooked chicken
* Finished off the last of a jar of pesto to make pesto pasta for the boys school lunches tomorrow
* Stewed some apples that kept getting left in the fruit bowl for dessert
* Spent time at the rental house cleaning paintwork/emptying gutters etc, much cheaper doing it ourselves
* rm surveys
* walk round the block for exercise with hubby
* banking checked, updated spreadsheet and recorded mileage
* complained to Mr T and wasn't pleased with the reply, emailed again and got the refund I'd expected plus a £3 goodwill gesture voucher.
Take care all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hi its get up at five week, but I'm doing it and I got through the first day. Tomorrow is my first day back cover teaching, and I was sure I had a day of prep. Auch. But it means filling up the October/November ravine. The groceries are heading straight for the fridge and EF might stay where it's needed.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

This week goals:
To do for WC 14/9/20
1. Accountant appointment
2. September (remaining) budget
3. Template for ongoing - any available online either excel/numbers works for me
4. Balance transfers
5. Voluntarily terminate third car
as some are adding general life stuff which may benefit mental well being:
6. 15 minute activity with son everyday (I don’t spend much time with him and want to make this a priority)
7. Finish work by 6.30pm and have evenings off (managed 7.15pm today so happy with that)
8. 10 mins wake up mindfulness, 10 mins bedtime mindfulness
Did swap my landline / internet today which wasn’t in my goals but glad I did it not a massive saving just £12/m but better in my pocket than the providers.6 -
At the weekend I made a meal plan for madam's packed lunches for the week. I basically lack ideas and not really sure what to put in. So on Sat I did a little googling for ideas and wrote up a comprehensive lunch for each day. I incorporated things we have in currently for the first part of the week, and wrote a list of things needed for the latter. It's only 2 days in but it's so much easier putting it together, looking at the list and grabbing those things. Know when I'm doing it exactly what I'm making - sandwich, pasta, ploughman's, wraps, roll etc. Early days but it definitely has felt less of a choreDF as at 30/12/16
