back on Sept 19you said this.......alt80 said:@ryanm8655 Yeah definitely the mindset thing. Really struggling to fight it today. Want to get out in the ftype and don’t care anymore if i give it 100, run out of talent and stuff it into a wall. It’s insured and not like it’s not going anyway. Only thing stopping me is potentially hurting someone else or the cops taking my licence off me lol.
I said on the other thread £20k/m would work well for me. Could do most things I want to do on that amount. Not happening certainly not soon and potential of a recession hanging over us next year it’s looking like this is where I am.
National trust not really my thing - just leave feeling !!!!!! about the house I’ve got because some 16th century baron did better out of life than me haha. Its not funny really but true.
@getmore4less I don’t need to do a clothes audit to know we’ve got everything we need and more. Might find some more stuff to sell though tbf.
Wife out walking with son and dog at the moment. Will probably just work after lunch and do something together tonight. Not in the best of moods to be with family today.
I am planning to do a budget this weekend - putting if off from the yolt data I know it’s bad already.1 -
@ryanm8655 100% avoidable mate. Always buy decent shoes but tbh I don’t need more. Just absent browsing last night - would not have even thought there was anything extravagant in buying (yet another) pair of shoes / something else for myself. In the past I’d justify it as a ‘cheap spend / fix’ lol. Probably have got quite a few things I could sell if I wanted to would rather avoid right now so I’m not tempted to just sell then replace. Actually don’t feel angry about it for once either. It’s extravagant, I’ve got other things I need to do right now and I have plenty - don’t really need more.4

@getmore4less idle browsing mate lol.
Ha just read that post back. FML forgot about writing that 16th Century baron thing haha true though. Does make me sound like a bit of a prat though.2 -
alt80 said:@PassElephant are you telling me to buy another car...? 🤣
Shed - wife is in charge of the garden, not sure she would want a shed tbh.
if she want a little helper it should be her choice.2 -
Agree on quality footwear though. A good pair of shoes well looked after will see you out.4

@getmore4less she is but knows I won’t have a kid potentially scratching my car up. It’s why I won’t take it to a car wash either. My car, my choice. Don’t really want to be spending out on work on paint all the time so saving money too.
@TheAble absolutely. I’ve got some pairs of shoes I’ve had since my early 20s. It’s why I’m so annoyed about these boots - my dog got hold of them as a puppy last year. 100 my fault.1 -

It’s extravagant, I’ve got other things I need to do right now and I have plenty - don’t really need more.I think that’s a sign of the mindset changing right there. I still browse and think about making purchases but the difference is I don’t tend to make them when they’re not needed. I’ve actually spent some time browsing cars recently, nothing crazy just something a bit more fun and interesting than I have, realistic budget too, like £5k. I won’t actually buy though, just a bit of escapism from the daily grind, while making it realistic enough that I won’t feel crap about not getting itI did spend about £250 last month I could have avoided in hindsight, they were fragrance purchases that I intend to sell on for a bit of profit but are going to take a while to shift. Credit card bill was a lot less than usual and the reason it’s annoying is that without those spends it’d have been well below £500, which is nuts for me. Going to have another fragrance cull to make back some funds and give me something to do that isn’t spending.Haha. Can imagine the pain of the puppy eating the boots. Living with family I have now been put off both puppies and kids, just through seeing the stress they cause
Never thought I’d be put off dogs...
Also think the car is fair enough, if I had a nice car I wouldn’t want my kids washing it either, or the wife for that matterI’d either pay someone to do it or wash it myself. Though having once bought all the stuff to detail my car and the effort that went into it, I think I’d just pay someone
Unless you enjoy that sort of thing...

Saturday locked up in my office, joy. Not the end of my world tbf - weather isn’t amazing. Looking like we’re tier 3 next week so probably going to go out for dinner at least once or twice over the next few days whilst we can. Not going to be saving money but will offset next month as we won’t be able to go anywhere.
@mothsinmywallet_2 haha I like a tidy car and house just don’t want to deal with it myself. Used to pay a cleaner before wife lol.
@ryanm8655 all a bit too much like rational thinking for me lol. I’ve stepped away from cars looking at the cheapest AM in the country turns into looking at finance deals on new ones and getting angry. Not worth it for me right now but do get why you’re looking at cars - single bloke in his 30s with the most boring car on the planet... what’s wrong with you? Haha. £5k used to be able to *just* get into an E36 M3 they are a lot of fun. Over 300bhp no traction control etc tail out fun 24/7 lol. They’ve gone up in value now.
I’ve had a super cheap month myself tbh bought hardly anything for myself. Nothing wrong with buying on to sell for a profit even if it’ll take a while - you’re not paying interest on the purchases I assume?
Ha I love my dog really but he’s a n*b - all for him and gets away with that so even worse haha.
Wife makes a better job than I ever would - recipe for a decent marriage if you trust your wife to wash your car mate.2 -
I can understand the pain of puppy eating boots , our first dog ate my wedding shoes. (fortunately long after the wedding but it was the time when women wore long dresses for the evening and I used to wear them for dinner dances etc. Yeah I know old fashioned concept but popular at the time.I agree about good quality shoes but there is a difference between I could do with(want) or I need. Decent shoes are repairable and should last for years.2
