Another watch enquiry today. Really quite hoping it goes now as seemed keen and apparently for a Christmas present so probably serious given the time of year.
Had my counselling session. Very ambivalent to it all right now - could very easily say f**k it and start spending again but I want to be a better example to my son. Part of me dreads to think what he’s going to grow into with my influence both spending and anger. Always thought I hid the anger well but when I’m shouting at stewards in car parks and being rude to wife because my car got filthy and she wanted to go to the pumpkins that’s really not hiding it and a bad example. Someone on here said I could be his hero probably already am spent a bit of time thinking about that - don’t want him looking up to that kind of behaviour or never being content in life either.Baby Step 6/7 . £16000 saved and invested. £47,000 deposit paid on new home DEBT FREE !!!

@warby68 I'm hoping my mood will generally improve - got a lot going on with a block of flats I'm developing as well as this stuff and have been doing other stuff that's not particularly helpful to my mental health.
Yes fresh start on the budget Monday. Still need to get through the weekend but this one for me is a working one - can't be avoided, one senior member of staff off and now a junior one too.
Ha not gambling and definitely not call girls as some other poster thought lol. Don't want to get into it but I've sorted my head out and put some measures in place to avoid temptation all I really can do on that front now.
Putting business first again is a big step I hadn't really realised I'd lost a grip of it but had tbh.
@RelievedSheff thanks. Decent day today too. Not had chance to think about money run off my feet working haha. Will try to do something with family between a load of deadlines to meet for Monday.
@getmore4less Never thought about sleep in that way at all tbf. Cars - just trying to 'park' that for the time being but you're right it needs to be reviewed at some point in the near future.
@Andyjflet I'm flattered you think I could be a good influence haha. Seriously, I just want him to have a happy and healthy life the same as any other parent.2 -
I’m also struggling to think of things to do with our kids (age 5&9). Today we swept up pine needles on the pavement which they both loved. Their chosen half term activities .... painting the shed and cleaning both cars, inside & out! Go figure. I know it’s dark when you finish work but if you could take a long lunch & work later instead is that the kind of thing your DS would enjoy too?

They still remember it.5 -
@stymied haha I won't let son touch my cars. Half way through his 2 week break now. Tbh wife finds stuff to do with him in the day - lots of dog walks usually. If it wasn't for the school, he's very cheap to run lol.
I could have a think about doing something with him for a few days this coming week - business life can be flexible if I choose it to be just hope staff are back to take the pressure off.
@PassElephantCould imagine son liking that too lol.1 -

Been having a think about November budget as only a couple of days away. I initially said I was going to cut the (non-Champagne lol) booze spends down to £100 and clear an additional £100 off the debt. I'm thinking about still doing that but not getting stressed if I do spend the additional £100 cleared. Like a drink a bit more than I thought and have been deluding myself a bit lol.
Wife in bed so no one to confiscate my phone haha so have spent a bit of time browsing JL website. Yeah I know. Thinking about going to have a look at what black boots they have in maybe spend £200ish - usually buy Church's but £400/500ish on a pair of boots does seem extravagant right now. Did consider seeing if a cobbler could get the brown ones dyed but I decided I would like to keep them brown - have been wearing them a lot tbf they're perfect for work / cafe / pub meal type occasions. Dress more smart/casual these days so the brown ones are fine as they are but I am going to be interviewing soon. Suppose I've got other formal shoes I could wear tbh so should probably leave it and not be tempted to spend extra.1 -
@PassElephant are you telling me to buy another car...? 🤣
Shed - wife is in charge of the garden, not sure she would want a shed tbh.1 -
Re: shoes it sounds avoidable to me, you must have stacks of shoes you could wear. If you’ve got church’s etc. That you don’t wear then there’s another load of sales for you, same goes for clothes, cuff links etc.
I am a believer in decent shoes, I’ve got a pair of Loake Chelsea boots that I wear for pretty much everything. Not as expensive as Church’s but still good quality and handmade. Got mine for a good price on eBay a few years ago back when I was on a spending mission. One of my better spends.August 2019: £28.8k
November 2020: £0 (0% interest)
