250 days is a significant achievement.
If I may suggest it, 365 days is three fifths of that again, a long time to wait. Before you get there, why not celebrate 300 days? I think that would take you to almost the start of the new financial year.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Thanks all sorry not been very active, I’m struggling generally and tbh completely whacked, what too much stress does apparently ha. 36 week milestone today. Tbh been struggling to keep away from work but getting somewhere with switching off devices (stops me from looking at work tbh) - forcing myself to do the right thing though doesn’t seem like it sometimes. Glad I don’t need to look through figures I’m letting it go until the end of the month, see where we are then.Todays cal is see the positives in others particularly when frustrated with them lol another apt one.3

Thanx Alt definately an apt one for me as well. You are doing so well, take care.1

Would it be beneficial to not look at the finances on a monthly basis now if they are part of the problem with your stress levels?
You know roughly where they are, you know what you can spend each month. Would you perhaps be better doing a financial review once every 3 months rather than every month?
You have done the hard work and reined in the big spending and sorted out the budgets. Now it is just the slog to the end.1 -
I would look at the figures monthly. You get paid monthly and set budgets so it makes sense to do that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Thanks all just had a bit of a chance to read through replies.
@getmore4less it’s !!!!!! stupid tbh; totally unlimited spends that looking at it now I’m off the stuff I know are just completely ridiculous. Bought into it for too long I know that much and not just my wife’s fault either tbh I started it buying her all sorts of things, something in my !!!!!! up head thought it’d change what I’d managed to turn myself into. Idk hard to live with the fact I majorly !!!!!! up. Anyway I’ve had to stick with things and see them through mate never been any free ride for me lol and yes, fair bit to look forward to this year tbf.
@warby68 I’m hoping the cards locked up in the office will be enough tbf but iswyacf although I look back and had far too much stress in my life for many years, still it really did wear me down tbh.

@Cherryfudge that sounds good; interim 300 day toast maybe have a lunch out somewhere nice thanks.
@RelievedSheff I do a quarterly review in addition to weekly / monthly / yearly / longer term. Haven’t managed to face it at all for a few weeks tbf but know there’s no problem generally just obsessing over it and that really wasn’t helping either. Could potentially make the over payments quarterly or another interval idk. Tbh I’m really not getting regularly tempted to spend money, I just don’t want to, nothing to buy. Where I on my own I would buy much at all rn.
@enthusiasticsaver my thoughts too I think I need to stop spending night after night staring at spreadsheets and running scenarios it reminds me of worse times really and not great for my own wellbeing.1 -
De-lurking to say (firstly) that you are doing a GRAND job on dealing with the demons and (secondly), I know you're some physical distance from it, but have you considered going to the Goodwood Festivals? My grandson is now 8 and my husband is taking him, our son and himself (obs) to the Members Meeting in April. GS is beside himself with excitement! We've been to the Festival of Speed and the Revival several times... check it out...you don't need to be a member - we're not!#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3663
