First Steps to Solvency

You have come a long way Alt in the last 12 months or so and last week is testament to that. You realised you needed help and sought it out rather than going down the destructive route. Well done.
Hopefully your wife will stick to the plan as well now.
You can do this together as a team2 -
Alt, be aware that quite a few on-line shopping sites may hold the confiscated card details on their system and often don't even need the three digit code. What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?4

Reached my 250 day target today. Not had the best morning tbh reflecting on the past. Todays cal is ‘share what you’re feeling with someone you really trust’, certainly apt for today ha. Next target is 365 days and then I am going to stop counting each day etc think in weeks/ months and years.
I’ve been really struggling with having the credit card debt going up tbh had to deal with a lot of anger alongside thinking it was almost inevitable I was going to relapse. I knew if I’d have gone anywhere there was a significant risk but somehow managed to get through. Far too often I still think !!!!!! this I’m done and go back to ‘old life’ but I know that’s no environment for my son to grow up in, not good for my wife and really no good for me either. I couldn’t live with the shame of what was the eventual outcome from how I was living my life so just need to carry on with the plan.
Thanks re online shopping - something I’ll check.

Well done Alt.
Continue on the way you going.
Try to relax and spend time with your wife and son enjoying the things you all like to do together.1 -
As you say Alt, you all deserve better. Your son will grow up to a different life thanks to you tackling your problems and now that Mrs Alt is starting to see what's going on for her, you can all grow and be happier.

Great you have made it to 250 roll on 365.
Also very positive you have been able to cope with these bumps in the journey and found coping mechanisms to work it through.
I can understand the frustration having worked so hard on a plan that has a decent balance between spends and debt reduction to have it derailed even a little bit.
I think I have mentioned it before once in the slog period where you think you have it all under control things can go wrong but the trick is to work through the numbers and plan for it not to happen again(when possible).
Its a bit harder when it is avoidable and not something like the roof blowing off.
You still have a great year looking forward, some great trips planned, with trips to Greece that went so well last time, another years growing up with your son, a year closer to the light at the end of the slog and a business that is doing well and can grow
I suspect the FA cup final is not on the list of TV viewing
One thing I have noticed is when you get the motivation you stick with things and see them through maybe something to talk to the pros about how can you direct that to tackle some of the other issues.
I wonder if this year your MAJOR project could be fix the wife(what ever that really means).

Day 250 is magnificent - hard won of course but so good. Well done alt, especially the last 10 of those days.
You will learn to relax a bit if your wife stops sending your financial plan significantly off track for silly amounts for silly things and with some malice on occasion. If the variations are agreed and the plan reworked as necessary that won't give the same stress. Living with the anticipation of some major shock on the other hand wears you down. Its like waiting for a hammer to fall.
It does feel like its time for Mrs Alt to accept her need for change and work on herself. The stronger you prove to be, the less she can shy away from who is causing the real problems these days.4
