  • I think maybe your sister did need to hear it but also very glad you managed to keep it together.

I just need to keep on this road, I know. Could let myself get really angry about it on the !!!!!! anger management tools and spoken to the pros. Yeah, my BIL has never put his hand in his pocket has a !!!!!! allergy to spending money lol.

Try and rise above it and keep your cool (although I appreciate it might be easier said than done). You’ve had such a brilliant holiday try not to let anything get to you in the last day or so of your holiday to spoil it. Just focus on the positives - the brilliant time you, your wife, son and parents have had and the lovely memories you’ve all created. Well done for keeping off the booze and seeking help from the pros when you needed to.

I can’t sleep tonight keep waking up- planning to ask my wife if she will consider renewing our vows here next year in front of my parents and hers. It’s not about an excuse to spend money we’ve been through a lot and I’ve not been good to her for the majority of our time together idk it would be nice to think of it as a new beginning. Would be nice for my parents to meet my in-laws too. My wife’s mum and dad have done more for me this past year than they ever should have and I know my parents would like to meet them thank them etc.

@Purplelady65 thank you. For the most part it’s been amazing. Partly looking forward to getting home I’m missing my bed 100% but partly not so much it’s been good seeing my boy making memories with his grandparents has been some of the best days of my life.
I think that is a lovely idea.

What a lovely idea. It would really mark the start of a new relationship and give you all more wonderful memories together. My only caution would be to make sure you both set a realistic budget and keep to it (I am thinking designer dresses etc.).

Well done on handling the challenges from your sister, keeping it in perspective, and not letting it ruin the rest of the holiday.
  • I agree with the OPs. That’s a really lovely idea to renew your wedding vows with your family and in-laws there and an opportunity for the parents to meet. A real occasion to celebrate the journey you’ve been on and new beginnings.

Glad that you have enjoyed your holiday apart from the comments from your sister and BIL.  From the sound of it your parents have enjoyed spending time with you and your family and I like the idea of renewing vows in your particular case as it could mean a whole new start especially as your parents and in laws have not met.  Maybe just keep it to you and wife and son and parents rather than siblings and a whole big event though.
