Day 143.
Totalled my spends so far at £380. !!!!!! amazing really, bit false in a way as mainly been cooking with parents and parents refusing to let me pay for much. I’ve paid for a few meals etc. Half grateful cheaper than being home ha but half really !!!!!! guilty, my parents don’t have a lot of money I know that and I know they’ve been saving up to take us out when I earn what I do just feels a bit wrong but they keep refusing to take my money. Owe them something really nice for Christmas know that much.
Budget reset on 26th. I’m not working out where I am until I’m back in NG decided that’s my treat not thinking about !!!!!! about with credit cards whilst away. Had to before so it’s a reward for sticking with the programme. Nice feeling can tell you that.
Anyway been a brilliant day today spent the day with parents’ mates, staff etc. Kept off the booze so has the Mrs today fml 100% different perspective dealing with drunk people when sober haha. It’s a different mindset out here re money etc, people not really bothered, less competition just a more relaxed attitude generally. It’s the catching a few fish and hanging out with amigos lifestyle haha. Never really seen the positives out here tbh always just thought parents did what they had to but I kind of get it despite having spent over a week sleeping on a sofa bed my back an absolute !!!!!! mess aching from head to !!!!!! toe with no car fml. It’s a different way of life here. Probably made it sound like my parents earned no money when sister and I were growing up. They turned quite a lot really and probably would have a comfortable life had they done as my dad is telling me to do get my debts !!!!!! off, res home mortgage paid off, get the PG responsibilities gone etc. They’ve got !!!!!! all now but love life here brilliant to see when not wasted everyday. Different perspective.
Last three days tomorrow, Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday start heading back and Friday heading back to NG. Missing my home and the UK a bit but not overly so. Not had the massive home sickness withdrawal thing going on. Actually been having a !!!!!! mad thought past few days about taking on a project out here when things a bit more stable generally. We are hoping to come back a few times next year and centre parcs with in-laws, few weekends away so that’s holidays sorted realistically.
Massive thanks to those on here you know who you are for saying I should come and see my parents be a cheap hol and see family etc. It’s really relaxing like going to rehab on the cheap with added hol for my Mrs and time with grandparents for son win win lol.

Bookmark your post for next time you have a wobble about going away.
Parents and grandparents have nurturing in their mindset something like not letting you pay for the shopping.
There will be ways you can pay back over time when you repeat visits.
Good to here you are benefiting from this trip.

That's really good to read as is 12 dozen days tomorrow
Everyone's a winner with this holiday. You got a lot of nudges to do it but ultimately it was up to you to make/let it happen and you did, despite some wobbles.
We used to go away somewhere warm at this time of year. it was always a bit of a shock coming back to the dark and the cold and the clocks going back. Some very warm memories will keep you going though.

Really great to hear you’ve had such a lovely holiday and been able to relax and enjoy it all. Also sounds as if you are starting to appreciate the different lifestyle out there and seeing that it does have benefits. Well done for pushing through the anxiety you had before you left - you would have really missed out if you hadn’t gone. I’m sure you and your family will have lots of lovely memories to take away with you.1
