That sounds lovely. Walking in the hills of Greece beats rainy old Cornwall today. Local style is the best way to see anywhere. Lovely to read that you are enjoying your time in Greece, alt, and the bonus is that when you look back on this time in your life, you will have the memories of a good time with your family to savour and won't have a bunch of regrets to beat yourself up about like you would have done if you had of opted for not pushing through and going on the trip. So a massive win win right there which is great.
And 20 weeks tomorrow - AMAZING!1 -
Glad you are having a great time. Make the most of the family time while you are there.1

Your post brought a tear to my eye, also memories of when one way to our hotel on a holiday, we had a private helicopter that took 25 minutes one way and the other way was a local rickety bus that was a 2.5 hour journey that made me green and I wanted to kiss the ground to say thanks for getting us there alive! What did the kids prefer.. the bus, kids love simple things.
On another note take lots of photos then set your son a task, to make up two identical photo albums, one for his memories and one to send your parents as a Christmas gift, it will mean the world to them, they will cherish it forever.5 -
Knew you'd have a great time despite dreading it, just like trip away with PiL 😁
Almost 20 weeks clean is absolutely amazing, you should be very very proud of yourself.1 -
So lovely to read that you are enjoying holiday. Given how often you blame yourself about your close relationships brilliant to read your son is having a great time too. Keep storing up those happy memories.1

I have the utmost admiration for you going on this holiday which is so far outside your comfort zones re travel, time away and home comforts, not to mention the apprehension for reconnecting with your family and covid complications, all when you're in recovery and feeling in the spotlight.
Its great to hear that everything is going well and I would love to have been a fly on the wall when your son and his grandparents met up for the first time.5 -
great idea by @Iamouttheotherside for a christmas present from you son. Really meaningful and they'll love it.Bottom line;

Day 142 actually just into Day 143 here. Thank you everyone, we are having a really good time. Different to home and to usual holidays also it’s different for me not going !!!!!! crazy through time away being time away from the things I’ve moved away from. Saturday night and waiting up sober for my Mrs coming home watching recovery videos haha. She’s gone into town with a Greek girl who works for my parents and her mates. I’m not going to sleep until she gets back tbh.
We’ve done more walking than I think I’ve done in 40 years and my son is still loving the bus. I fully emphasise with you @Iamouttheotherside haha last time my parents had a car they lived in the UK so they are used to the local transport around here fml.
@getmore4less she’s good. Having a really nice time actually. She’ll probably be not at her best tomorrow though lol.
@warby68 my son and parents have met in person before but he was 3. There were a lot of happy tears amazing moment I’ll take with me to the end I think.7 -
