Ooh, I might have drove past you yesterday ! My mum lives in a village on the edge of Mansfield, she doesn’t drive and I suggested moving into Mansfield, you’d have thought I’d suggested downtown Beirut !Could you sell going away for a few nights with just you and the wife as bonding time whilst you’re away ? Maybe in the middle to give you some breathing space ?Sealed pot challenge 822

Your suggestion of booking your own accommodation for Greece sounds a really good one. Even if you all get on really well five of you living in a one bedroom flat for 2 weeks sounds as if it could get a bit stressful! If you have your own accommodation you could still see your parents every day but not be on top of each other 24/7.0

5 people staying in a tiny one bed flat for two weeks would stress me out too so booking some separate accommodation sounds like a good idea. Sell it as you are thinking it is too much for them to cope with three extra people and stress that you will still see them lots.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. @Grumpelstiltskin trip to the tip lol my Mrs will laugh when I tell her that’s where I’m going next time I’m driving up that way. I own a couple of houses up there, one was my first BTL fml learned very quickly there’s rough, then there’s NG18 rough lol.
Thanks for the Ravenshead info I know a lot more about that part of the county than I did lol spent most of this evening occupying myself reading about it.
@warby68 I’m dreading the whole thing tbh would do anything to be able to stay at home rn. Where my parents live; it is Greek basic iykwiacf not gonna lie I would like a bit more space. Tbh space aside I just don’t want to face them probably is ridiculous at my age that I care but can’t say it’s nice being the family let down. Thought I was going to spend the time there working tbh planned to spend 2 days with wife and son and just knuckle down for the rest of the time there but they’ve decided they’re shut for 2 weeks they’ve told me they are ok health wise etc so idk.
@RelievedSheff yeah they could take it the wrong way I know. I’ve been told by them they are looking forward to having us.0 -
@dawnybabes haha I was in the EQC. You’re mum is about right about Mansfield lol.
Wife doesn’t need it selling to her haha.
@Sun_Addict by choice lol? 😉
@Purplelady65 / @enthusiasticsaver we aren’t there for the full two weeks, it will be 11 days in total - chose not to do the full trip in one day. Seeing my sister and family for 5 of the days - they are staying elsewhere but their kids only have the one week off. Wish she’d just stuck with cancelling tbt. I can’t let my mum and dad down now, know they want to see my son and sending my wife and son alone wouldn’t work either they’d be on the phone 100% !!!!!! guarantee.1 -
Writing this on here hoping I’ll see it in the morning or afternoon tomorrow and think what an idiot haha. Spent hours going through figures where I’ve made stupid spends looking at old potential projects that never came off and trying to make two work that I dismissed for good earlier today. Really !!!!!! obsessed with buying property rn but also nothing that works put my sensible head on and it’s just generally a stupid time rn. Good for other parts of business tbf but def missing my buying units fix ha. My Mrs and in-laws think I’m absolutely mental. How the !!!!!! anyone says they’ve enough I really don’t know.1

That's the way it goes, the right project will come along just need to be ready for them.
In the mean time the war fund keeps going up, no point in throwing money at a that will do project just to get a purchase.
I really think you need to ring fence the business from everyone, it needs to be a black box that generates £100k a year spending money.
What happens in the box stays in the box.
Saying that, what's happening with that hall conversion and has the big block unwound yet, cash in the bank?1 -
You're missing a bit of business buzz but periods of consolidation do happen and are needed. You did say after you refinanced the BTLs that you'd stripped cash quite a bit to get it right.
If cash is coming back you could also pursue your other goal of getting the PG off the units.
Don't buy the wrong unit for the sake of it - play the long game.
Building up a war chest gives you a lot of choice and ability when the right thing comes along.
I agree with less discussion about the specifics of the business with those who can't give meaningful advice. You do very well when not waylaid by coke and the associated exaggerated lack of belief in yourself on the down phases. You can make good choices.1
