Day 106 thanks all. @mark55man haha fml I can remember those tiny little cars and the 205 which they made before, made me smile anyway would be very happy to get the Saab 9000 now that’s something I def didn’t think I’d be saying lol.

Going to take the @RelievedSheff approach to Friday; finish work about 5/6pm h/m pizza, film and a few beers quite looking forward to it.

@ThatKiss bit of both I think

@enthusiasticsaver thanks. My Mrs would love that; she likes classical music / opera / musicals / theatre etc. Bet you never thought you’d have something in common with her haha.
A few years back we went Birmingham Symphony hall to watch a family favourites with music from some well known films. That was very good and surprisingly cheap afternoon. Might be something to bear in mind for a future weekend

  • I love musicals and the theatre and classical or contemporary music concerts. The loggia boxes in the Royal Albert Hall are surprisingly cheap and you really feel special as there is only about four people in each box so pretty covid safe at the moment. The concert hall is just an incredible experience on its own.  My sister and I got tickets for Cirque du Soleil at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago and it was really magical.

@alt80 - my OH has a nice sporty special edition 106 when we were just married, and I had a 306 as a company car when that was a thing corporates did.  Had a nice 307 as a courtesy car for a week once - other than that mainly been Vauxhall for the last 5 years

Day 106 through; nice end to the working week. Didn’t get home from the office until 7pm but I’m OK with that. Very tired again just going to bed with my tea and listen to my book. Tend to be getting to sleep at semi-reasonable times for a fair amount of days recently. Last week of budget, October was first month of thinking about personal spends / budget etc.

Put the pre-orders in for new iPhones today. Wife gone for Pro model and I’ve chosen the normal iPhone 13; didn’t think the Pro was worth the extra money for a quicker refresh rate/ better camera. I’m no photographer and don’t play games / edit videos etc. The 13 has all the features I want - I’ll get better value from it imo.

@annabanana82 thank you my son would love that, so would my Mrs. Wife has taken him to classical music for kids concerts in the past and he has also just started piano lessons at school which he is enjoying. He’s said he’s going to teach me from his book this weekend lol.

@enthusiasticsaver my wife would love that - you’ve given me a potential idea for her birthday one year thanks.

@mark55man I’ve never owned a French car but back in sixth form days practically all the kids had a Peugeot 106/ couple of 306/ Citroen Saxo/ Renault Clio and some Vauxhall Corsas and one or two old type Minis. All 1 litre warriors so far as I remember apart from me, a lad who had a 205GTi who could really drive and a girl with an original MX5 bought to get the top down rather than the tail out lol. I had an E21 320 wasn’t fast at all but it was a black BMW and ridiculously tail happy, thought it was subzero back then haha good memories.

My first car was a 1991 Nissan Sunny. Don't know why but we were without a car on the road at the time, it may have been when the XR4i was in bits being restored thinking about it. The car dealers next door had taken this Sunny in part exchange and let us have it for £50 to get it out of the way. It has 12 months tax, full MOT and a full tank of fuel at that. We ran it for 7 years and then sold it for £200. Was a great car that one H151 MOL.

On the strength of that car we bought my last one a Nissan Almera. Bought it for £5000 when it was 12 months old, half the price it was new. We ran it for 14 years and now the mother in law is running it. CX54 WEK.

Neither were Flash or fast cars but they did a job and they did it reliably.

In the same time the other half has had a fair few cars. Mk1 Fiesta that had been his grand mother's from new, old mini, Honda Concerto, new shape Mini One D (loved this car it was a great drive but so troublesome, it had to go unfortunately) and latterly the Hyundai.

The other half is spoiled with the cars he gets to drive at work so for day to day cars we never have anything special.

My car owning history is dire. Two Datsuns and a Fiat van 🤣🤣🤣

Day 107 today. Keep it up

@alt80 Glad its all going well and you have some inspiration (and some sleep)

When I was in 6th form I had an ancient hand me down Honda Civic, more rust than body I think, but still thought I was the bees knees.

When I started working I bought a Citroen AX GT, the closest to a super mini I could reasonably afford. The flashiest colleague I car pooled with had an XR2i and the other a legendary Ford Capri. TBF the AX GT went like lightning but probably because it weighed little more than a metal tea caddy. I didn't keep it long as I lost confidence when it lost all its power in the outside lane of the M6 but I did love it. Those were the days.

Your wife might like outdoor classical concerts as well , where you have a picnic and champagne etc.

The recall on the Almera is for an airbag replacement in the dashboard. We declined it because the new airbag unit is a different colour to the dashboard 🤣🤣🤣

To be fair that car has done its work now. I wouldn't be surprised if it failed its next MOT in spectacular style. But it has got MIL out of a sticky situation this year and put her on.

H151 MOL we would have redeemed that. Set of brake pipes and a few suspension bits. Be a classic now that thing 😆

    That's the other half's job. 😀

Literally. He is a panel beater. He comes in handy at times 🙃

The XR4i resembled a sieve when we bought it.
