First Steps to Solvency

I once gave up smoking for 10 years , there were days when I would get cravings , some really unexpected times and many many years after I quit but you just have to ride them out.
Worse thing I ever did was give in to one , it started the whole addiction again and threw away any good work I had done , now I vape so still have some nicotine dependancy. Its not as smelly or expensive.
I've regretted letting that craving on that occassion get the better of me ever since , when people ask if you would change anything about your life , I say I would go back and change that as it threw away all my good work and sent me back to having to start all over again.
you are doing so so well , just be prepared for those little temptations to present themselves from time to time and don't let it get the better of you7 -
Great about the sale.
I don’t think you’ve become lazy, I think you have adapted to who you are off drugs. You’ve always said when on the stuff you can go all night. That isn’t normal for our bodies as they need sleep.Enjoy picking up the milk float. I’m sure you’ll at least enjoy your sons excitement!September 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x4 -
Day 64 through.
!!!!!! epic day don't know why the car ever tripped me off, it's absolutely !!!!!! amazing and that's coming from a fully paid up and committed petrolhead. Know I'm going to get massive flak on here for saying this but I !!!!!! love it 100 will be using it for work miles, even at motorway speeds it's so !!!!!! quiet it might as well be a Rolls Royce. Tech is out of this world, absolutely unreal, Land Rover could learn a lot from that. 100% if you want an everyday / family car don't even need to get out and test drive anything else just buy an EQC. I'm half thinking about binning the Range Rover and getting myself another one use the money for a sports car haha.
Turns out I'm not under £30k for card balances by the end of this month I'll owe £30,015 haha will have to find that £15 lol.
Balances are as follows:
1 - £600 (one I've taken the sale off - 0% due Jan 22 this will be clear next month)
2 - £9,310 (Oct 22)
3 - £9,780 (Nov 22)
4 - £10,325 (Nov 22)
Total £30,015
Starting balance at start of this month: £34,695
Total reduction this month of £4,680 if wife doesn't go mad on the spending later in the month. Buzzing about that ha. Wife actually said to me this evening I should try to get them all cleared for 0% ending told her she'll have to stick to plan and get on with the sales if she's serious idk not holding my breath for it lol. She thinks I should start having a bit more access to my own money I don't. Tbh don't even need to buy petrol when I'm running the EQC haha. £20/d thing been best thing I've ever done in some ways no temptation.

You have to find that £16 from somewhere to get below £30k. Brilliant reduction of £4680 in one month though. That is awesome. Looks like you need to throw £2k per month at those cards to get them all clear within the deal periods and you will then be credit card debt free by next November.
Great that the EQC has surpassed your expectations so win win there on financial side as much cheaper to run than BMW. I am tempted to go down that route myself on my next car but DH not convinced electric way to go yet until range and infrastructure in place for long journeys. The electric cars I have been in have been so quiet you can hardly hear them but as a walker and cyclist I am a little worried that people won't be able to hear the cars coming along our rural quiet country lanes. Sometimes the only clue there is a car coming is the sound of the engine which obviously will not be apparent as more people move to electric vehicles.
Having no access to money has obviously worked for you in terms of you not being tempted to buy anything off plan and glad to see your wife is back on the program again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Just goes to show petrolhead's do like different cars, when a good one pops up the badge doesn't matter as you've now seen for yourself.
I understand why you're setting the £20 allowance. Honestly, if it works for you, stick with it and reassess in the future.
Fingers crossed the Mrs sticks to her side of the deal, it's beneficial for all three of youMortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
Glad the new car has met with your approval 😁 Well done on paying all that off. I’d have to pay that £16 off to get it under £30k.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

So you CAN teach an old dog new tricks
I would love that car. No flak from me, I thought it was great that you got yourself open minded enough to go for it and to let wife lead so its a real bonus you actually love it. It wouldn't surprise me either if the RR starts to mean just a little bit less as time goes by.
Really pleased for you - finances sound broadly on track. I agree, stick to £20 for as long as you want. The roadblocks are working very well for you.2 -
Happy day 65!
Glad you liked the milk float! Well done on the massive reduction on the debt front. Hope this is the start of the wife turning a corner with spending too.Enjoy your weekend.MFW 2022 #71 £4400/£44001 -
Just caught up, I had a complete meltdown on Wed over something and got behind on a lot of stuff.
Concur with most of what has been said, you will have tough times but you can get past them looks like this week may have been pretty bad they will tend to get easier over time.
What I will say is(not sure how many more times) it really does take time for things to sink in.
Complete turnaround on the EQC and people have been saying that the electric option is a good choice for a while.
(Do step back and think about the RR don't fall back into rash instant fix choices this is one that needs to be slept of for a few weeks if not months)
I think you should look at some of the other turnarounds and think about them when you get into your stubborn mind set that trips you off, quite a lot are ingrained from the times when you were not thinking straight, you have in a way brainwashed yourself.
I also think you need to look at the sales by the wife as a joint effort towards a joint goal rather than you being indebted to her, remember you have paid for just about everything.
It does look like a bit of work overload has not been good over the last couple of weeks, something to look out for as the business grows you can't do everything you need that support and people to take on most of the load, what you have to realise now you are thinking straight the business will start to grow and over time you will start to see that filter through as the retained builds up, projects complete(successfully) and ultimately the personal guarantees won't be needed.
if you can't quite make the £30k maybe we can all chip in a few quid to get you there
Enjoy the weekend with your new toy..........
