Sorry you are having a rough day.
No great surprise giving how many people are breaking the rules. As I type this three of the houses surrounding us have visitors and non of them have children so it isn't a childcare bubble.
It is frustrating when we are following the rules and others are so blatantly breaking them.
What hope do we really have of bringing this virus under control?
I think this lockdown is less strict though with more people working, the definition of key worker has been extended meaning schools are busier, childcare bubbles etc and people are becoming complacent thinking that older people are already vaccinated and so they don't need to be careful anymore or they are just fed up of restrictions so ignoring them. Someone I know thought it was ok to be across two or three bubbles with their different children.

They were fined £1400 which is just £200 each. Half my problem I can’t move on from !!!!!! I’ve done in the past. Just like poor financial decisions I analyse things a lot then the self loathing gets bad and I can’t bare to be near my family - guilt basically. Used spending and cocaine to feel better, helps whilst I’m on it but the comedowns are getting worse, built tolerance and it makes me me at my worst. Hate myself for it all starts again. It’s addiction I know from the counselling/ reading I’ve done that I’m not just doing it for a bit of fun, I lost control a while back really same for the spending. You’ve no idea how shameful that is to admit, feel like !!!!!! and crave it all the more. It’s like being stuck in your own !!!!!! nightmare.
All I’ve ever wanted to be is successful in business and I’ve coasted, lost 4/5 years to a never ending cycle of hate, debt and using drugs. Now I hate myself for the lost years and opportunities in business. Feel !!!!!! hopeless and back to craving it. Know getting to the other side really isn’t going to be easy but I’ve done some more on the addiction workbook. Wife said it seems I’m taking it seriously. Sat in bed her watching TV as usual she’s asleep in 5 mins haha.
@KxMx haha going to give it a go. That’s been my happier jan plan something fun involving someone else. Son is delighted we’re going to grow some sunflowers doesn’t take a lot to please him haha. Told him we can’t do it yet so daddy has a reminder in his phone and he needs to guess how tall they’ll get.
@annabanana82/ @ladyholly yeah my FIL isn’t a bad person tbh he’s helped me a lot over the past few months. I just can’t face them a lot of the time. We are very different tbf and I know I haven’t been a great husband so it’s not that easy but I know they mean well.
@Onebrokelady/ @enthusiasticsaver absolutely doesn’t surprise me re Cornwall in the slightest. No idea what the way out of this is tbh just seems like it’s going on and on forever but the stats are getting worse - don’t think the cold weather is helping tbh. Past few days felt a bit different about it before I didn’t really care tbt wasn’t constantly breaking guidelines or anything but still. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want my business being shut again but I think we all need to do what we can to protect our families/ others.
My wife is an absolute mess for not being able to see her parents. Speaks to them everyday but in tears by the time they hang up. Just awful all round, those that are vulnerable to severe issues from it and those of us just finding lockdown tough for whatever reason. Coming up to nearly a year too, don’t think any of us ever believed any of this would happen.2 -
Well done on sticking with the addiction workbook. I would not be surprised if the self loathing is a withdrawal symptom. Depression is another. Hopefully it will get easier. You have inspired me to do the sunflower growing with my DGDs .
I just hope the situation with this awful virus turns round soon for all our sakes. Had my DD2 in tears too today from stress of both her and her husband wfh in busy stressful jobs while home schooling a 5 year old and entertaining a 2 year old and at the other end of the scale my 85 year old mum crying on FaceTime because she can't see us and is coping with my stepdad with dementia. This is breaking families.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. @alt80 I really am touched by your comment tonight about covid. It's true that we all need to act as a society and protect people by staying apart. It's not easy and I do worry about the mental health aspect, but I think it's important that vulnerable people are not marginalised so I'm pleased to see such comments from people like you who felt it wasn't a risk for you and your immediate family. For me it goes with paying taxes, being a society and a community, not just individuals.

You might feel really rough right now @alt80 but your posts show a difference already.
I hope you manage to keep going - a full weekend will be an achievement.
The sunflower idea is lovely, my nephews do them every year. I killed them off when I tried with mine years ago (another story) but grandma sneaked in replacements for me.
I also think your inlaws are more ally than enemy.
This lockdown feels much worse. Struggling here too , especially my 86y old mum on her own. I'm just holding onto things looking better from Spring but its hard to see an end right now.
Keep going and don't be afraid to ramp up the help if you can't cope - I don't know at what stage resi rehab is on the table but have known a couple of instances of genuine successs with that. Different addictions/problems but similar programmes of detox then rebuild. The ones I know of all came out doing yoga - I'm sure that will make you smile.

@enthusiasticsaver thanks half think I’ve done it for so long don’t know what’s a mental problem and what’s down to too much chang. Not great tbh.Sure your grandchildren will like the sunflowers.
Yeah it’s very difficult for families that are close knit. Must admit I’m half glad there’s less temptation need that right now but hate to see what it’s doing to my wife and her parents could see her in a childcare bubble but they won’t think that’s what upsets her the most. She told me she thinks they’ve just rejected her lol.
@katsu I have conflicting views on it tbh. Hard when you come across people who would likely be very vulnerable to it and I do in my job - see all kinds of people haha. Not going to pretend I like paying tax though FML.1
