First Steps to Solvency

The worst thing was that the police "spokesperson" said it was up to individual officers to decide on what to do. So no consistency then.4

Busy day today. No luck on the offer. No spends, no drinks. More up than down so winning there lol.
@getmore4less wife been on JL app this afternoon looking at sale FML. No spends yet and I've avoided it. Tbf won't harm to have a look and think about if there's anything we actually do need. Def few bits for son. I genuinely don't want to spend the rest of the variable nearly £400 off the debt seems appealing right now.
Fairly certain we can walk into town for 'essential exercise' actually lol. JL not open though. Wife going crazy can't go to parents etc.
@FootyFanDan thanks mate. Not gonna lie not really feeling a relaxed no/little work weekend but going to anyway. Not just about me.
@maddiemay/ @ladyholly/ @RelievedSheff ha the Derbyshire walkers - saw that early this afternoon too been the topic of discussion here between me and staff and me and wife haha. Thinking it's just not worth it tbh can do without being fined £200 x2 or x3 lol.
Notts police on news (BBC) - "not out and about telling them too far from home". "Business as usual". Trusted in Notts but Derby cops not trusting the sheep shaggers lol. Can drive to beauty spot from home but not too far. No time restrictions/ fining as last resort in NG.1 -
Well first weekend of the year can’t fall to sleep. 😆
Laid in bed calculating in my head if I could make everything I have now last for the rest of my life FML, different flavour of madness lol head telling me I don’t deserve to buy anything for myself again tbh. Not been anxious all week, Friday rolls around, go to bed dreading weekend stomach pains, actually notice how painful my jaw is when I’m anxious too no madness all week then this. Realise how bad it feels physically tbh when I’ve not dealt with it in days. Wish I could work long hours 7 days a week without the burnout, I don’t really spend or have the negative thoughts/ self destructive behaviours when I’m properly focused on business tbf and enjoy it.1 -
Interesting you have thought about the zero sum game.
Come into this life with nothing go out with nothing
You have a kid so probably best to look for middle ground where there is still a decent legacy.
The analysis can be useful as part of the bigger picture.
Once you have enough(including a bit of safety net) to cover the rest of your life with no earned income you can then balance growth and drawings to maintain the ability to cover the increased spending.
Maybe plan something like how do you go from £8k sustainable to £10k sustainable.
On the sales if you identify £400 worth of stuff you will need in 2021, if you can get that for £200 now it is worth doing unless you think there will be other sales before you need the things.
200 off the debt for ever and spend 200 now is better than 400 off now and then having to spend 400 in a few months.
The challenge is to stick to just the needs.
If you can't find enough things to do with family allocate some time for business review, planning, and research.
Can't remember when your block is due to finish but there are probably some strategic marketing to think about if planning to sell during lockdown.
Empty property may be attractive to people looking as they can do much safer viewings than occupied ones.

Thanks mate.
Nothing particularly useful/ healthy in the reason why I was thinking like that. Woke up in the night realising why I was thinking like I was. Wife had earlier put £800 of kid stuff and £650 for herself into the app basket. I’d practically begged her not to buy. Sat working out if I could live on nothing could I give her everything whilst she was sleeping. She’s the one sound asleep and I’m up worried about finding the money for her stuff. 😆Completely get where you’re coming from re buying stuff you’re going to need in sale and saving overall over the year. Used to buy clothes etc like that in my 20s lol still wanted to wear nice stuff but less money so used to work out what I needed / wanted the most and buy in sale.
I don’t think I’ll have the full weekend off but no catch up on fee earners to do so more about moving forwards in some way. Block looking more like end of April. Ideal world I plan to sell between 12 and 14 units keep 2-4.2 -
I think you should tell the wife how the shopping has affected your sleep. It might make her think twice about the spending.2

End of April is 16 weeks.
With sales taking longer due to delays in the systems would advanced marketing be worth the investment?3 -
£1,450 in the basket.
Is it worth the analysis of the kids items to work out what is needed in the next 12 months keeping in mind a growing lad has a narrow window to use stuff.
Maybe review your needs before looking and hope the wife pick up the hint that she needs to do the same with her basket and filter out the wants just keep the needs.

Why on earth does a 7year old need £800 worth of stuff. He is a growing lad so he is unlikely to get proper wear/use out of it all. Not wanting to be rude but no wonder you are lying awake.2
-
Its only a little over 2 weeks since her last blowout. This shouldn't be happening. After all the talks, surely she knows that.
It really is no surprise you are lying awake if you are unable to make her see she has to stop but are also unwilling to restrict her access to funds.
A blunt question, but why is it still so ambiguous with her?
We regularly shop in the sales to buy nice things and replenish staples at better prices but you just don't have the means right now, well not for £1450 worth.
