Great news about your business not being affected and really good to hear you're getting some sleep and sounding so positive.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

Thanks all. Slept well but tired again now idk must be getting old ha or all the worry over what Boris is up to next haha.

@warby68 not too concerned with future balance right now. As you say I’ve had none whatsoever for a long time. Just concentrating on getting the debts paid off. Though wife not helping on that front said she’d get some stuff up for sale/ reviewed done !!!!!! all.

Yeah viewings carrying on, nothing changed and won’t have for you in construction either. Still buzzing tbh lol. First lockdown we stopped doing any work - as you say very woolly and next to no instructions coming through.

I feel really sorry for the students, meant to be having time of their life and stuck with BoJo’s lockdowns again FML. Who knows re unis and fees etc. Think you’ll be lucky to get anything back tbh.

Are you looking to buy one or do you mean for the lads to find one to let? I assume they have a group of housemates lined up already. Ordinarily I’d say you’re leaving it a bit late for Sept. but usual timescales all over the place at the moment.

@Grumpelstiltskin yeah saw that who knows if they’ll do anything with the two they’ve arrested. Parts will have gone abroad.

Absolute dream car that is for me.

@getmore4less temptation is to work through not gonna lie but second day I’ve finished at 6 so not doing bad there. Need to work on more than just work tbh.

Haha re wife haven’t got a clue what she’s doing but told me she’s missing the IG already. Back on by end of week is my guess. 🙄

@alt80 yes to rent - mixed group of 4 - I guessed it might be late but they've barely had chance to meet people never mind form a house share. Noone ever at the accommodation offices when they tried for a bit of info before leaving and now can't go back.

I think you're right not to fix too many future plans - just deal with the current problem and try other ideas on for size while you do.

Can you give your wife something to do to keep her off IG? Is there a house project or some one off work stuff? Although I suppose she's home schooling now for a while.

Another no spend day, still on the dry jan wagon. So tired I’m already in bed though don’t know !!!!!! is wrong with me. Not ill just exhausted and freezing cold for no reason either lol. Never go to bed before wife but have tonight.

@warby68 really not great at all for students. I would say look at the general management of the place - is there evidence of damp/ black mould, does it look like there’s been recent maintenance, what are the fittings like etc. Don’t forget they are going to be there for the year. Also how many weeks is the tenancy for/ bills included or excluded and any other provisions not uncommon for LL to pay for the broadband but rest of bills excluded etc.

I haven’t got a great deal of energy beyond day to day running business, trying to spend more time with family and the debt tbh. Trying to take one day at a time right now still have some cravings for stuff but nice thing about working that tends to take most of my time so less time for the self destructive stuff.

Remote learning will be starting. Tbh school were brilliant over lockdown 1. Most of my staff weren’t happy with their school’s provisions but we were really happy so no reason to think it won’t be decent again. Son is upset to not play with his mates though. Been a tough year for him. I can always find something for wife to do tbf and probably should. Better for her than IG. She’s really quite interested in new project tbh never has been before perhaps I should try to get her more involved, she’s still struggling with getting very upset etc thought better to leave her alone but know I prefer to be busy.

Insomniac here again and thank you.
As long as you frame it as mutual help, I think its worth a try for wife and if she doesn't want to try different things, you'll know she's not up for much change yet.
I don't think 11pm is especially early on a 'school night' and I think you can feel more tired when you relax and give in a bit and aren't on quite such high alert as you must have been lately, and before that with a bit of chemical distortion. I go really cold when I'm over tired, like a cold fever. Feels like it takes an hour to warm up in bed rather than usual 5 mins. But stay aware and mention it to GP if there are some odd patterns, not to alarm you but fatigue and chills go with Covid too.

On a "school night" we can often be in bed by 9pm and we just crash out and don't wake up until the alarm goes off at 6am!

I would try and get the wife involved in the new project if you can. It will give her something to occupy her mind with which should also take her mind off not being able to see family face to face and will hopefully make her less upset by the situation.

Good night’s sleep again. Looking like another no spend day too. Caught the negative thoughts this morning before it got too bad and got the counselling today. Def want to carry on sorting my life out lol.

@warby68 can’t believe you’re even functioning at all, really hope it improves for you soon.

Tbh I really don’t think it’s covid, I don’t feel tired all the time just much earlier at night than usual but I’m actually sleeping for the first time in a long time. I have stopped the stimulants more or less altogether. Only have 2/3 coffees a day and switch to the decaf after lunch so still drink a fair bit of coffee but not getting anywhere near the amount of caffeine that I was. Cold isn’t flu type chills and before you ask yeah I’ve paid my gas bill lol. Everything hit me all at once tbh lot more issues than binging on spending obscene amounts on stuff don’t think I’ve been well for a long time just not been able to face it and start to deal with it.

@RelievedSheff think I probably need those kind of routines - what time do the two of you finish work? 6pm is an early night for me on the work, usually more like 7/8pm but being quite strict about the c6pm finish this week.

Hoping that’ll work with wife tbh I know why its getting to her, she’s really missing her family not the same speaking to them on FaceTime I know that. She’s been doing a lot of experiments with the nails, told her if she’s going to get back on and post stuff on IG just log into the nail account. Hopefully she’ll listen don’t think it’s that good for her.

I finish work at 4pm, but I am starting at 7am at the moment.

The other half starts work at 8am and finishes at 5pm but he has an hours drive each way so is out of the house from 7am to 6pm.

By the time we have got showered and changed, had some dinner and watched an hours TV we are shattered.

Its a long term issue for me. I do sleep just not quite enough. I use early morning for my time rather than late evening. It gets me by. Everyone knows to ask me for stuff in the mornings as I'm a brain dead zombie after about 8pm. TBH always been more early bird than night owl and always had to leave for work by 6.30/6.45. When WFH I can get my work day done by noon lol!!

  • You sound the best you’ve ever been mental health wise since you first started posting which is great progress. This has probably enabled your body to relax a bit and help you sleep. Plus the reduction in caffeine sounds to be helping you as well. I’ve been caffeine free for 15 years. I used to love a cup of coffee first thing in the morning but I started getting low blood sugar from the caffeine so had to give it up. Taylors decaf coffee bags taste like the real thing though.
