Merry Christmas, I hope that the day proves to be much better than you are anticipating, hang on in there, thanks to Covid it is only 1 day!!

    Merry Xmas enjoy the day.

Was thinking a little and have said before you have to drop the I earn it I decide what it gets spent on, it needs to be family money spent jointly setting a budget.

However you do have total control over how much money comes into that shared pot extracted from the business also how fast that grows along side ballancing business growth.

This does conflict a bit with getting her more involved, I now think any involvement needs to be real work with hours and objectives not just a chance to look at the books to decide how much comes out.

  • Merry Christmas Alt. You made it under budget.

  • Sorry you didn't have a great day 😞

Perhaps you should have a word with FIL about the wife?

Thanks everyone hope you all had a good one, just the right amount of indulgence and not too drunk to not enjoy it but merry enough to always the best imo.

Roast was generally successful few bits I’d have done differently all got a bit stressful towards serving time should have accepted a bit of help from MIL but went well really. Good food, day off for wife and MIL  - kept myself busy not too much to drink not sitting about getting drunk annoying in-laws so win win on the cooking front very glad I took the decision to do it would do again tbh. No drinking whilst cooking either haha so successful in that respect too only bit of day that was good tbh.

Wife wrapped all the !!!!!! she bought to do her IG stuff this morning tbh the whole banal ‘#blessed’ unwrapping video thing with some banal !!!!!! about us taking ‘the opportunity to stand in solidarity with those ‘suffering adverse consequences’ of covid’ so didn’t do advent calendars and why we have chosen to ‘give modestly’ just !!!!!! me off massively. So not been the best atmosphere. She’s not happy with me pointing out the IG stuff was really !!!!!! false but she’s all I should ‘count my lucky stars’ when she ‘could have a premiership footballer’. Right this minute he’s !!!!!! welcome tbh lol.

Wife didn’t buy me anything so nothing to take back just more debts to pay back so def on the £1250/m variables for next 6 also in and out of current account overdraft. Just seems !!!!!! hopeless sometimes. 100 had she bought me something I’d have returned it that’s how serious I am about sorting the mess, moving on from this. In-laws gave me a framed photo of my son and I from the now absolutely !!!!!! legendary pumpkin day lol. Tbf it’s actually a nice photo and they knew I thought so, it’s a nice gift really even if it is a bit of a reminder of a !!!!!! day.

Son was also a complete brat about not getting some kids video camera thing in his stash. Actually sent him to bed after he was punching my wife. He does that a lot when he loses his temper she is fine with it but 100 doesn’t sit right with me. Don’t want him growing up thinking that’s ok.

Had to deal with the spends conversation with FIL as predicted. By this point I was done, told him if he really must know I wasn’t the one to speak to and I hadn’t bought the “gifts” for wife either. Don’t even care any longer, completely fed up with it all I cba anymore no card and car payments after paying these back I’m done with it. After today could happily forego Christmas 2021. Spent no money today though ha.

Glad the cooking went well and you kept off of the booze for the most part!

Think you’re right to be annoyed with the wife tbh, she sounds a bit of a tool. Very shallow and immature. You’re right to call out the instagram fakery and bs. And bad habits coming out in your son too. Think it’s fair enough you tell the FIL he’s giving the wrong person the lecture too...

You’ve coped really well. Not sure I could’ve kept my cool in the same situation. No wonder you like to work so much. I think every fake present she’d bought herself would’ve had me seething

You've done amazing not to blow with your wife.  She’s really not coming across well at all.  How bloody dare she say she could have footballer.  Good for punishing g your son, at 7 he needs to learn you do not punch anyone for not getting something - the ‘entitlement’ hasn’t fallen far from the tree.

@RelievedSheff don’t really see the point. I’m never going to be best mates with the in-laws. Yeah things are better between me and them in some ways they’ve not been too bad today tbh. They 100 think she could do better didn’t say anything apart from they were surprised about the gifts. Think they were in shock tbh lol.

@ryanm8655 thanks mate. Yeah it worked well, surprised the in-laws ha. Not had much to drink at all glass of champagne, glass of port and a scotch that’s it, carry on down this road will be teetotal next year fml.

I’m not happy about it mate. We decided not to do presents she was fine with it until she gets a message think that’s what set her off tbh. Yeah she can be immature in some ways, never really had to go through the 20s ladder thing establishing yourself iyswim. Ive probably been a bit of a prat over the years buying her too much maybe idk.
