This is quite obviously a fabulous idea. However, what about doing it as a series of mini books as follows:
Vol 1 Old Style Challenges
Vol 2 cooking old style
Vol 3 household management ie cleaning washing, bicarb, vinegar etc,
Vol 4 old style outdoors eg keeping chickens/ allotment/ wild food etc.
I haven't thought this out too much but hopefully you get the gist. I am also thinking that people can "mix and match" and purchase the volumes which are most relevant to them and let you include more info in each book. This also might bring forward the launch date, ie if you release eg the cooking one first then you've got more time to write the outdoors one so that could be released a few months later and so on until the last one is available...by which time Money Saving Diet part 2 will be out!
People could collect the whole set or just bits - or buy your special christmas boxed set. And of course having the charitable tie-in makes it total perfection..
I hope that this approach is interesting to you Martin.0 -

Not sure that I understand that reasoning.
Please don't take it personally Edinburghlass, I think you have taken my post out of context to some degree.
I was just looking at the bigger picture than just this forum/this site and questioning how a change in general attitudes would effect the economy. I believe it is fact that good interest rates & a buoyant stock market are only possible if consumers spend money (someone please correct me if I have got this wrong). This particualr fourm, at least my interpreation of it, gives us the opportunity to beat consumerisum to some degree and spend less, therefore I was wondering if by encouraging others in our excellent ways are we cheating ourselves? My very sincere apologies if it was an inappropriate question.
PS : I don't want to hijack Martins thread, if this needs to go any further maybe a board guide could move these posts over to the Arms or somewhere more appropriate?
PPS : I still think the book is an excellent idea Martin, about time we had some decent UK based money advice instead of books packed full of American-isms.
PPPS : I could have streatched this post out to 4 seperate posts without being obvious like sum (sum....geddit?) but I am not fussed about my ugly mug being on the front cover:DPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
