If your carpet cleaner performs as well as ours I think you'll be surprised at the difference in even the carpets you think are pretty clean!

Look at the Sheffs, enjoying their best lives :)
Only slightly envious - well done all round. You really had your eyes on the prize with this move and the finances look great considering there isn't much left to do on your move in list. All those zero balances. If anything shows how far you've come, that is it. I shall go for my 3rd cliche in one post with - its time to smell the roses. Enjoy yourselves.

Thanks all.
The carpets did indeed come up great, they look so much better. Considering we have been vacuuming at least twice a week every week since we moved in I was absolutely amazed, and somewhat horrified, at the amount of dog hair the carpet cleaner picked up. What came out of the dirty water tank could only be described as dog hair soup.
I'm going to go over them again some time soon and hope for less dog hair next time!
We are gradually ticking off the jobs and it is very much becoming our home now.
There was a slight issue with the utility room cupboards we ordered. One of them went missing off the lorry. But the one that did arrive looks and fits great and is a fantastic match for the existing kitchen cupboards, we couldn't have asked for better really. Just waiting for the replacement cupboard to be manufactured and delivered and then we can finish off that room.
We are very much enjoying our home spa weekends. We took a bit of a gamble with the location of this house, it wasn't in our preferred area, but actually I'm quite enjoying village life and I can see us being very happy here for very many years.

I suspect our front room will be exactly like that all over again when we do it the second time - the difference first time over was incredible!

Blimey.
It's been a couple of busy weeks again since our last update.
The house is keeping us busy. We finally got the utility room sorted. It looks great now and is a useful room with storage cupboards. Still keep finding stuff that needs doing though. The wine cooler has started playing up so that is on the list of stuff to replace in the next few weeks. This weekend's job is replacing the light fittings in the living room and hallway. We are also starting plans to do some updates in our bedroom, nothing major just a bit if retrimming and some new curtains and a new chair for the dressing room. More to put our stamp on it than anything.
There is plenty going on in the village to keep us busy as well. Last weekend it was the young farmers tractor run which finished at the sports club just down the road. That was great fun and the weather was brilliant for it.
We have managed to get away in the van over the bank holiday weekend. We had a few days in Whitby which was lovely. It was nice to get away again and chill out. The dog was very excited to be out and about in his van again. We are going to try and get out again in the next few weeks.
Finances are ticking over nicely. We are starting to build some savings back up again although we do have a few more jobs to do which will eat into those again. But there are no pressing jobs to do now. Everything is an as and when job now.

Sounds like everything is coming together nicely and the getting the house exactly how you want it. Life in the village sounds good too.
Good you've also been able to get out and about in the van too.

All sounding very good indeed.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping) -.literally have been run over by a bike, mobility scooter and a car - still here 💪1 -
Good to hear from you, time does go quick and before you know it, weeks pass between postings. I live in a village and love the community feel, sadly quite a few planning applications have gone for development on green belt land. We’re due to go away to the lakes in our caravan in about 3 weeks, hoping for better weather than last year when we went as it was horrendous, does make a difference when you have good weather. Good luck on rebuilding your finances, hope you don’t have many hiccups that will impact on this.
