And it will be reducing further on 1st April which is fantastic news.
Perhaps won't be quite the bill shock we were expecting after all.

Our heating is on frost setting overnight so it only comes on if the house temperature dips below 7.5 degrees which has never happened. I feel the cold easily but wouldn’t want it on at night. 25 degrees in the day 😮 They were literally burning money!

I know. It's crazy.
I don't think the house has cooled down properly yet because the heating isn't coming on loads and it has been cold out the last few nights. Been nice and warm in the house though.

You sound as if you’re getting nicely organised in your new home. I couldn’t go and leave it dirty…..how can folk love like that 🫣🤢. You’ll have it sorted before you know it…..then you’ve got summer to enjoy it. Glad the dog is setting in .

The list of grim discoveries continues 🤣🤣🤣
I've got the day off work today waiting for the sofas to be delivered.
We are replacing the inbuilt fridge freezer at the weekend with an American style fridge freezer which will entail some remodeling of the kitchen and will leave us minus fridge for a day or so.
No problem we can stick the milk in the wine cooler and use the freezer on the van for the few bits that are in there.
Decided I should probably wipe out the wine cooler before we use it. Good job i did. It was rancid and had a horrible sticky dog hair covered coating in the bottom. So that's had a good scrub and some disinfectant this morning.
We are making progress though. It's definitely starting to look and feel more like our home. We are chipping away at little bits to make it more ours.
Keep finding lots of little odd jobs that take 5 minutes that need doing. Odd jobs that usually cost nothing like descaling tap filters, lubricating toilet mechanisms, adjusting doors that rattle. Little jobs but all totting up to big differences. The downstairs loo was almost unusable due to a sticky mechanism and the tap being restricted to a dribble by limescale. Can't believe they lived with it like that!
The garden is looking a lot tidier. We have pulled the weeds, trimmed the overgrown bushes at the side of the house, cut the grass and had a general tidy up. It's getting ready for some real plants adding now. It's not even taken that long to tidy up!

You're already making a great impact by the sound of it - well done! It does take an age to get the little jobs sorted when you move into a place I think - we finally got around to having the kitchen under-cabinet lights replaced last week! The difference is incredible so needless to say we're now berating ourselves for not getting to it as more of a priority! 😂

The kitchen is looking very different from when we moved in already. With the new fridge and the cupboards in the utility which is the next big job, it will look different again.
I'm looking forwards to getting some bright sunny yellow on the big wall to break it up a little and add some cheer.

So glad you're in and not so glad at the 'little gifts' you've been left to discover. You're a great mix of pragmatic and positive though, so I'm sure it will all be sorted and forgotten in a few weeks.
Our house was immaculately clean when we moved in, cleaner than our new builds BUT they had craftily hidden quite a number of broken tiles in the kitchen and other dings around the house by strategically placed gadgets and furniture. Nothing major but they did affect the overall look once revealed and we didn't have a lot left for upgrades for a while. Not the same as dirty though, that would make me cry but this made me laugh at their sneakiness. The house was mostly emply when we viewed as they had already relocated but there were odd pieces of furniture still there plus a full set of kitchen worktop gadgets. We never thought anything of it at the time but they were clearly 'strategic ' with hindsight. Previous house to that came with the ensuite cupboard under the sink clearly forgotten and containing some of the couple's more intimate personal items. We had a bit of fun phoning to tell them and offering to hold onto the contents in case they wanted to call and collect them.
Keep scrubbing Sheff, it will soon be up to scratch :)
