We seem to have seen the ants off. Put some disinfectant soaked kitchen roll down where they were coming in and have not seen any since. Mr RS is going to seal the gap between the skirting board and the tiles in the next day or so.
More yuk was discovered yesterday. The frosted glass on the extractor hob turned out to be an 8 year old layer of grease on top. Wiped it after the other half had been sanding some filler and was horrified. Needless to say it looks a lot better now.
The en suite shower was draining slow so I looked to clean out the trap. I don't think they can have ever cleaned it. It was vile. I jumped straight back in the shower after cleaning that 🤣🤣🤣
We are getting there. We have a working fridge freezer now. Getting it in the house was interesting though!

I was thinking of you when we viewed some bungalows over the weekend. There was 1 that needed Sort your life out going in. What state would it have been under all he ‘possessions’ Even looking beyond the clutter I couldn’t see myself in that particular dwelling.
Hope it feels more like home now and the dog has settled in ok.
January spends - £587.581 -
The dog is fully settled now thank you. He is loving his new house and garden. He gets so excited when we pull onto the drive which is nice to see, he's like a pup again at times.
We keep plodding on with the jobs both big and small. There are lots of little maintenance jobs we keep finding that only take a few minutes and a few quid here and there. The kitchen is almost finished now, just need to paint the ceiling.
The next big job for us is the utility room. The additional units have been ordered and will come bank holiday week at some point. The new utility external door is being fitted next week and the window in the hallway is being replaced, but at least we knew about these jobs, no surprises here 🤣
We had friends stay over the weekend just gone which was nice. Gave us a day off working on the house and a day actually enjoying it.
The house is very much feeling like our home now. We look back at the estate agents pictures and can't believe it is the same house. We keep meeting new neighbours who all seem lovely and surprisingly no one has mentioned the van yet!
Good luck with your search for a new home.

We have made the last payment on the van this morning. That is 5 years that have absolutely flown by.
It does mean that next months finances should be a little easier to swallow. This month we have had the extra interest payment you always get with a new mortgage plus the last van payment so we were £900 down on spends this month before we even started! Here's to an easier month in May.
Not much else to report really. We have been plodding away with odd jobs on the house. We did try the sauna our yesterday morning which we both enjoyed. Can see us using that more often when we are less busy with DIY. Next weekends job is draining down the hot tub, cleaning it out and getting it set back up again hopefully ready to use over the bank holiday weekend.

That 5 years went by so fast.

So here we have the latest totals.
The savings accounts have taken a big hit due to our house move but we can build those back up again given a little time. We have a block paving job still to do which will wipe out the rest of the Premium Bonds but at least we didn't add to the debt total this move and we have decided to hold off doing this for a little while just to see if the house throws us anymore unexpected surprises!!
