It's van MOT and service day today so potentially an expensive day. With our big trip to Romania looming we have told them to do anything that might need doing so they are going to inspect everything with a fine toothed comb.

Got the insurance renewal through for it yesterday as well. That has gone up £20 from last year. I had already had a quick shop round and this was still the cheapest quiet so I have renewed it this morning. I have taken the money from the savings account for the insurance. Hoping that the MOT and service I can pay for from the current account but that depends how much it comes too, so will find out later.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is sweet chilli salmon with noodles and stir fried vegetables.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • picking up the van
    • putting the dogs beds and toys back on the van now they are clean and less smelly

Mid week again. Another week flying by.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is ostrich steak with rice and greens.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the kitchen
    • weigh in Wednesday
We needn't have worried about the van. It passed with flying colours yesterday and only needed an oil and filter change and an air filter so it didn't cost the earth. So I paid for that from the current account which means that the savings account didn't take too much of a hit this year.

This week seems to be flying by. Probably because we have had a busy one. And that theme continues into today.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was cereals ,we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is seafood pasta and garlic bread.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the bathrooms
    • vacuuming the house
I think I need to nick some beer out of the van tonight to put in the fridge for tomorrow evening. Will restock it again at the weekend.

Friday at last. I'm looking forward to a weekend at home this weekend.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores today. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is steak burgers with sweet potato chips, onion rings and coleslaw.

No jobs to do tonight other than walking the dog. It will be a quiet night on the sofa with a few beers watching a film.

A day pottering around at home for me and the dog today. The other half has gone to work to do a few jobs on the car. The brakes need doing and a few other bits and bobs so that will keep him busy and out of the way for much of the day.

I have got a load of bedding in the wash ready to stick on the line once I've cut the grass. Just waiting until 9am to fire up the lawn mower 😀

I've drawn the short straw for cutting the hedge as well. That's growing like mad.

Hoping to get another load of bedding and the towels washed and line dried today as well.

When the other half gets back we will take the hedge clippings to the tip. While we are there we can walk the dog along the canal and call in at the canalside pub for a couple of beers. They have a very nice beer garden.

Think we are having a bbq later. I have the meat ready. If we don't manage a bbq it will be a mixed grill instead I think. Depends how chilly it gets on the patio later. Only problem with this house, we lose the sun off the patio early afternoon so at this time of year it can be a tad chilly sat out.

We were walking the dog last night when we heard what could only be described as a bomb going off. It terrified the dog and me. Never heard anything like it.

Sadly we have learned today that it was a gas explosion at a terraced house two miles away that has destroyed the house and sadly killed the 50 year old occupant. Luckily the people in the surrounding properties which have been very badly damaged were all OK, shocked obviously but not injured.

    A terrible incident.

It's been an odd sort of day learning that news early on. We had a bbq breakfast this morning,  the first of the year.

Then it was onto the main task of the day, washing the car and the van. They were both ready, the van was loppy. The roof was terrible.

The dog was a good boy while we were busy so we took him for a walk at a local nature reserve and then to his favourite pub for a couple of beers and to book a big table for the other half's big birthday in June.

Just at the supermarket now then it's back home to finish the dinner prep and bring in the washing on the line.

Slow cooked beef ribs tonight. Think I'm going to serve that in a Yorkshire pudding with mustard mash and greens.
