Completely forgot it is credit card payment day today, so £300 sent to the credit card this morning.
I have booked our Isle of Wight ferry and the Eurotunnel for later in the year as well so both of those are sorted now and the savings account has taken a little hit. But those are the expensive items for both holidays this year out of the way and paid for now.Balances Update 04.01.24

Thank goodness it is Friday. I'm looking forward to a chilled out weekend, mostly in bed with the way I feel right now!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was toast, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is southern fried chicken with chips and coleslaw.
No jobs tonight other than walking the dog. Only job to do tonight is get a load of washing out of the dryer and put it away when we get home. Tonight will be a relaxing night on the sofa watching a film. I don't even fancy a beer tonight I don't think.
We have increased our mortgage overpayment starting next month by another £100 and I have increased the credit card payment by an extra £50 starting next month. I will probably increase either the Premium Bonds payment or the savings account payment by an extra £50 as well. Need to have a think about which one would be better off getting the extra funds.0 -
Hope you feel better soon 🤞 relaxing weekend sounds just what you need 👍January spends - £587.581

Happy New Year and the finances look like being well in control. Sorry about the fireworks New Year. We had loads round us this year which is unusual. We both feel a bit better this morning. Just taken the dog for a walk and got some fresh air.
Just having a quick coffee and then it's on with taking down the Christmas decorations.
A steady day other than that. Need to run the vacuum cleaner round and clean the kitchen and bathrooms but we will share that out between us. Not going anywhere else. Having a lazy day.0 -
Forgot to say earlier we were rudely awoken this morning at 4am by the house smoke alarms chirping away.
Obviously we both shot up to investigate.
Turns out the back up batteries in the wired in alarms had failed. No prior warning. 🙄
Thankfully a few weeks ago the battery in the van smoke alarm had failed so we bought a couple of extra for the house ones at the same time. So the other half was changing those in his underpants at 4am this morning 🙈0 -
Glad you’re both feeling a bit better today. Good idea to have a more chilled day while you’re getting over it. Oh no to the alarms going off. I hate that smoke alarm batteries always fail in the early hours - beep, beep, beep 😖I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

We both got back and had some sleep thanks. I have been sleeping downstairs the last few nights with this cold. I often do when I'm ill so we don't disturb each other in the night.
Washed the bedding on a hot wash today so looking forward to a night in a nice fresh bed tonight now we are both feeling human again 😀

I have woken up this morning with an enormous rash of cold sores around my mouth. Just brilliant 🙄
Thankfully I have no face to face meetings booked in for next week at work and will keep it that way now!
Not much planned for today. Another lazy day. Got a roast chicken for dinner later on will do that with all the trimmings.
The dogs not looking very enthusiastic this morning. Will drag him out for a walk soon.0
