£1k not terrible with the use you get out of the van. I keep looking at those boats on the Norfolk broads to hire from time to time idk I still like the idea of it. Tbf my Mrs doesn't trust me to drive it, showed her them and she's convinced I'll crash it and we'll end up paying for the thing lol.

You pay a damage waiver when you hire them. If you have a bump the wIver covers it.

You certainly wouldn't be the first or the last to crash one 🤣🤣🤣

We went on the Broads a couple of  times years ago. The first year was great and the weather was good, the second time our dd was about a year old and spent most of the time crying for various reasons, the weather was awful so we returned the boat a day early to find a message for Mr LH to ring his father urgently. (Long before the days of mobile phones). He did so only to find out my father had died suddenly. We have never had the urge to return which is shame because it is a nice relaxing break.

@RelievedSheff thanks - you seen someone crash one? Idk probably overthinking it but a bit paranoid about phone signal after being told on here that it's very patchy. Not sure if it's one of those things that's better staying a thought than becoming a reality ha. Have to make my mind up soon, we are sorting out our plans for remaining holidays / weekends away this year. I'm not really sure about going away as much as we pencilled in at the start of the year, just want to save the money and stay at home most of the time. Not really even about money I'm just whacked all the time and would rather sleep in my own bed.

@ladyholly that's not good news to receive on holiday. Can't say I like the idea of it if the weather isn't good and not guaranteed the weather here.

You see at least one crash a day on the Broads.

Always made us nervous taking our own boat but it's different on a hire boat. They are bumped around on a daily basis for 38 weeks of the year!!

We never had any problem with phone signal and if all else fails all of the pubs have wifi.

Not a no spends day today. I have had to nip to the shops for some bread so have picked the weekends shopping up as well while I was there.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was crumpets, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is jerk pork loin with rice and vegetables.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • walking the dog
    • cleaning the kitchen
    • vacuuming the house
    • load of washing

We never had a crash but I suspect the Broads are much busier than they were in the 1970's when we went.

We've got to take our motorhome in for cam belt and water pump change next week.  Hoping the bill won't be too much as also need to buy a couple of tyres later this year but need another couple of months to save for them I think!
