@RelievedSheff it was lovely weather. Job over that way so had an extended lunch with family and little walk. Was really nice until I got back to the office, felt so !!!!!! guilty for spending the time out especially with our holiday coming up and only just back from a month off.

Regarding the rates, I think we are all starting to anticipate buckling up for a bumpy ride ahead. That said, the BOE rate we have been accustomed too has been far from 'normal', I think this is the beginning of the end for the QE era and the BOE base rate will slowly rise over the next 1 - 3 years to likely c3%. For some, this is going to have a significant impact when fixed rates come to an end on mortgages but there are also wider implications for individuals and businesses. Feel rather fortunate to have fixed both my residential mortgage and BTLs last year. I was thinking earlier there are also people up to about early 30s and younger that don't really remember a time before the absurdly low rates so this will be more of a shock to them.

Unfortunately due to my first half of 2022 my card balances are higher than I would like them to be and tbt higher than before I started trying to get serious about sorting my personal finances out. One of the many reasons I can't carry on the way I was doing but still the news today has made me think I do need to get a !!!!!! grip once and for all on my over reliance on credit generally.

It will be another no spends day today. Number 3 for August, we are on a roll this month :)

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is vegetable saag masala with lime and coriander rice, vegetable samosa and galic naan bread.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • load of washing to put away (on a wash dry cycle today due to the weather)
    • plug in the van and turn on the fridge. Must not forget this today!
    • walking the dog
Only quick jobs to do tonight and then we can chill out on the sofa with a few beers and a film and make the most of a relaxing evening. We certainly won't be having a relaxing one tomorrow :)

The current economic outlook has made us thankful that we have taken the opportunity to sort out our finances and get them into some sort of order, so that we are in a better position to ride out the storm.

I know in the not too distant past we would have already been struggling by now with the rising costs.

It will be a spendy day today.

The dog is at the groomers at 11am, we are picking him up then heading off to Lincoln to meet up with friends. A few drinks around town and then a meal in Huckleberrys to round off the day.

We will be parking the van in a car park at the top of town. £9 for 24 hours so we won't have to rush off tomorrow morning.

Breakfast will be a full English this morning.

We had a great day yesterday and it wasn't as expensive as we had feared it might be. It was lovely catching up with friends and the dog was spoilt rotten. The restaurant brought him his own meal!

The car park here was very quiet last night. Busy in the day though, we had to wait for a space.

A quieter day today. We are going for a walk this morning to blow away a few cobwebs.

It might be a no spends day today. We shall see. Roast pork for dinner later.

We have had a really nice walk round Lincoln this morning. It was so peaceful compared to yesterday.

The other half is out playing with his little drone. Me and the dog are chilling out in the van.

It has definitely been too hot for gardening today but looking at the forecast for the next week or so today looked like the coolest day for a while so we have tackled it and tidied up the front and back gardens.

I don't suspect the grass will grow much now with the hot temperatures and complete lack of rain in the forecast so we probably won't have to cut it again for a while.

The dog is shattered. He has gone straight to bed.

I suspect the bbq is going to get some good use again this coming week.

Not a no spends day today. I need to go to the shops after work and get the weekly shop in.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was a bacon and black pudding sandwich, we have both taken our packed lunches to work and dinner tonight is ham and mushroom pasta with garlic bread.

    Tonight's jobs are:
    • load of washing which I will line dry
    • walking the dog
It looks set to be another scorching hot week again.

    Wonderful photos of Lincoln.

It is meant to be another hot one this week absolutely glorious here this morning. We had a BBQ yesterday at home after a run out in the old cars. On Saturday I heard about someone I know through business and just starting to do well has had a stroke, only about ten years older than me, attributing it to stress idk about that but life is cruel.

You’ve 100% done the right thing sorting your finances out, will be in a good place to ride out the next few years and all being well put you in a good position for life.
