It is cold today! We had frost and I'm in the south! WFH I normally have thermals on, but I was still cold so I now also have a blanket 🙂
Next time it is cold I might try the thermal socks and wrap myself up in a fleecy dressing gown. Hadn't thought of that.

It is nice and warm now the heating has been on an hour so a bit late to try it today :)

Advantage of living in a modern property 1 - no heating until 3.30pm. Not a !!!!!! chance of that here - solid walls, single glazed windows etc. Absolutely freezing here past few days something going on with rads upstairs too ought to get a plumber out but can’t face paying for it ha.

Have you been checked with a radiator key that there's no air locked in them? I do mine every year when heating goes back on

@Sarahwithlove deal with this all the time with my btls / other properties I manage.

Tenants living better than me ha.

Know there’s something not quite right with the system in my house tbh I’m no gas engineer so can’t put my finger on it but going to cost know that much. Also usually have the chimneys sweeped same time.

Yep. Done the old house thing with a 5 bed Victorian villa. Never again. It was never warm and it cost us a fortune in gas to keep it never warm 🤔

Our last 1930's semi was better on that score but nowhere near as effective at holding the heat as this new build is.

The house is toasty warm now. The boiler has turned off and it will probably not come on again now before we go to bed.

Lol I’ve only ever lived in old places. Can deal with the cold for the high ceilings and period details wife thinks I’m mad haha. Wife’s parents bought a place new in the early ‘80s so she grew up somewhere relatively modern... moved in with me and had no central heating open fire in the bedroom. Right postcode though ha.

The other half's mother lives in an old cottage out in the sticks in Scotland. That still doesn't have central heating just an open fire.

Yep its lovely sitting in front of the fire on a cold day but its crap coming home from work to a cold house and having to get the fire going to warm the house through.

Not my idea of fun at all. Central heating is under rated 🤣🤣🤣
