My sister and I have decided rather than buying each other presents we're going to treat ourselves to something rather than spending the money.2

My family have opted for no presents this year. Instead me and each of my DD and GCs families are going to host/organise a day out next year when hopefully we will be able to move around a bit more freely. I am going to host a boat trip to see the seals. If any of the family are a bit strapped for cash it can be a picnic on the local park. All that clutter used to be money3

Forgot to add yesterday that as a matter of interest we ran an agreement in principle for our remortgage with our current bank just to see what our chances of getting a high street mortgage will be come early next year. This is only a soft search so it won't be logged on our credit files. The application came back fine, we are well in on the affordability check and it seems that we should be good to remortgage onto high street rates this time round which will allow us to keep our monthly repayments the same but drastically cut the remaining term from 23 years to 15 years.
We will be looking to fix the rate for 5 years and then at the end of that fixed rate deal, with all of our debts paid off (hopefully) we will be in a position to remortgage again and increase our monthly payments to reduce the term further.6 -
Ooh I like salmon with sweet potato wedges, very nice. That's brilliant news about the remortgage and a concrete plan in place to reduce the term. Our mortgage was paid off 8 years ago but we took another one out to refurbish our house. I don't regret doing this in the least as it's made a huge difference. I must make an effort to overpay if I can though, allowed to overpay 10% a year and really should take advantage. We're on a fixed rate until the term ends in 5 years.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3
