You aren’t going to forget that! Bet you’ll look back at the pic in time to come and smile.1

Absolutely we will. Thinking we might get a print of that picture mounted and framed to hang somewhere in the house.alt80 said:You aren’t going to forget that! Bet you’ll look back at the pic in time to come and smile.
That one and a couple of others.1 -
Another fairly long driving day today but we have a few stops planned to break up the day.
First up though we are having a full Scottish breakfast to set us up for the day and then later on we have some Scottish salmon fillets with goats cheese tortellini and a cheesy vegetable bake.
As predicted it was a pretty stormy and exposed night parkedon the causeway but we all managed to get some sleep at least. The dog probably more than us. Mind you he was shattered.
Hoping that the tide is out enough that we can take him on the beach in the little bay behind us before we set off. He will like that.2 -
Absolutely you could do it. The three of you and the dog in the Range Rover would love it.alt80 said:I couldn’t do it I don’t think mate but it does sound amazing and I’m glad you’re having such a good time- you deserve it 100%.
Look into it. There are some amazing hotels and guest houses along the route, loads of places to eat out and certainly no shortage of fuel or facilities.
The route is very well sign posted. No need for maps although you could task your son with navigation to keep him occupied.2 -
Drive safe especially if you’ve hardly slept. Food sounds good as always. Love the idea of framing the photos you’ll have a hard time choosing. My in-laws framed a photo of my son and I it’s hung in my office at home. He won’t be a little boy forever.
Re trip yeah it sounds amazing. My boy would love that - navigating ha. I’m not always up to driving still love it usually but there’s times that I just don’t think I’m safe to drive when I’ve not slept etc and my sleep is 9/10 always worse when somewhere unfamiliar. Can affect me for days and whilst we’d share driving and my wife is a good driver if a bit slow lol I don’t want to have to put it on her for days on end if I can’t sleep or wind up having a !!!!!! panic attack wouldn’t be the first time.0 -
Stop catastrophising @alt80. Next big holiday would be a year away and with a fair wind you'll be in a much better place by then. If you don't feel up to driving one day you stay put. Or you do a different trip with fewer driving days. Or or or ...
@RelievedSheff I am living those views vicariously. Its so beautiful and a bit wild. You won't want to come back.2 -
We have been treated to some sunshine and blue skies today for our most northerly part of the trip.
The scenery is becoming much less dramatic but it is still beautiful in its own right.
We start heading South again tomorrow which will be a sad point in the trip as it means we are starting to head for home.☹

There are some spectacular views, but I do I think they are just a bit more off track. Latheronwheel is lovely and has a fairy walk. Whaligoe steps are really amazing, but it hurts to walk all the way back up them 😬 There are some nice coves where you can spot seals and puffins at the right times, but some take a bit of walking. I hope you have a good trip down. Capaldis pink ice cream shop is quite famous in Brora 😋Not all who wander are lost - J.R.R.Tolkien

We have got a few miles under our belt today now that we are starting to head back down the East Coast.
We had a reasonably early start. We grabbed toast for breakfast and had a Scotch pie for lunch. Haggis, sweet potato and vegetables for dinner later.
We have topped up the gas tanks and the diesel tank today. Should have enough fuel to get us home now and certainly enough gas.
We have parked for the night at Balintore Harbour.

Great pics and looks like it is dry at least. Scotland is on our list of places to visit but as DH had open heart surgery last week it may be a while before he is up to that.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards.
