Will they let you WFH a couple of days a week? My workplace is aiming for everyone back by the end of September but only for 2/3 days, rest of week WFH.
No. They are aiming from everyone back in the office 5 days a week.

It seems ridiculous to me that organisations want staff back in the office when so many people can work from home easily.  I'm sure that a lot of jobs could easily continue at least part of the week WFH.  My DD1 is already back at the office one day a week and I think they are planning everyone back in full time by the end of the month.  My DD2 has been told she'll be WFH for at least another couple of months and probably until the end of the year - although her manager has said she'd be quite happy for her to continue working from home most of the time with just going into the office a couple of times a month.  Seems a much more sensible solution.

I suspect a lot of it is because the government want to get city centres back to "normal".

I'm so glad I've retired and don't have to go to work anymore!

I think there is a lot of truth in this, they expect most people will go back to buying lunch and coffees, browsing the shops during their lunch break, regularly popping into the supermarket to grab that nights dinner or picking up a takeaway, plus commuter costs. It seems the government's motivation to get people back in the office is driven solely by the economy and has nothing to do with keeping people healthy.

Pleased to say the company OH works for are happy with people working from home on an ongoing basis and are looking to sell their building.

I think a lot of companies are thinking in those terms or at least downsizing the floor space they rent or as in your OH's case sell the building they no longer need.

There is undoubtedly an element of wanting things back to normal behind latest advice and bus companies/trains etc have all been operating at low capacity so profits are low and city centres are quiet. My daughter and son in law will continue to wfh but other daughter going back in the office but just for three days a week.

Lovely pics of your away trips. We have been away a lot over the last month too but not in a camper van. Great to get a change of scenery. Good news on CCJ dropping off so hopefully you can knock the interest on the cards on the head now or in a few weeks time.

Rude comment about the meal posts and I like reading them too. Not sure why people even bother to comment  when they say things like that.

Office full time for your role @RelievedSheff does seem a little like a control thing going on. As I’ve said before I like the hybrid model although some of my staff are f/t office based however it is what it is.

I certainly hope no one took my comment yesterday the wrong way after the other guy’s post.

I don't think it is a control thing. They have a large office building sat half empty that they took a new lease out on just before Covid hit. They want everyone back in and working in that building full time again.

I would much rather stay working from home but if the powers that be want us back then that is what they will get.

Can see it being a complete nightmare until the 17th August when self isolating rules change. They are already finding that more and more staff are being pinged by track and trace and told to self isolate. Quite why they want us in the office until the rules change I don't know. If one of us gets Covid then that is a whole floor of the office isolating!!

The few millionaires that we know would never dream of boasting about their position. They are just like the rest of us. Will buy a round but will also accept drinks and meals bought for them. One of them drives round in a battered old VW Polo as his daily runner, to look at him you and talk to him you would never know he has money and this isn't money tied up in assets either.

Haha 100% makes more sense now mate lol.

However I’d be leaving it until the track and trace stuff changes myself personally.
