foxgloves said:Nice to read about your van, @RelievedSheff. We are saving hard (& upgrading our house) as we hope to be able to relocate to the coast in around 8 to 10 years or so. If we can't do it (price differential between East Midlands & the region we want to go might increase to more than we can make up), then our Plan B is to buy a lovely van. We love camping, but it would be great to take it up another level, even though our tent does always look cosy & eye-catching.

We still have a couple of tents, a four seasons smaller 4 man that we use for shorter trips and a larger 5 man Vango family tent (this one is brand new not even out of its bag) which we bought last year when we thought we had sold the boat.
Not sure when they will ever get used now we have the van but we will keep them anyway. You never know.
Used to love sleeping under canvas, especially when it rained.4 -

Haha fml you’re hoping mate, running water hard to come by in those parts. 😜
As for camping I’ve got many memories from a long time ago going to various motorsport events camping over and waking up to the rain on canvas which is oddly soothing haha takes me back that does mate lol.2 -

We have the dog now so it's out of the question really.
I would suggest getting a tent and taking the family camping but I expect that would be one step too far for the wife 🤣🤣🤣3 -
Not long before Mr SA became ill we went for a long weekend to Hunstanton in a caravan. It poured with rain the whole time we were there. There were even ducks swimming in a pool of water outside the door and they kept trying to come in every time we opened it. It was really cosy at night though with the sound of the rain beating on the roof. The morning we left the sun came out and it was glorious- typical.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

Mind you our house roof echos when it rains as well so we get it at home now as well 🤣🤣🤣2 -
Haha you’re bringing even more memories back mate lol. Been to the pod many times - used to go few times a year for the rwyb was always a laugh. Always lots of fast Fords there. Talking of which have you got yours up and running ? I was thinking you could take the van and the Sierra - tow the Sierra and park the van for the week and drive around in your car no need to worry about the crocks in the back but get the benefit of the car and the van? You can hire car trailers if your garage isn’t big enough to store the car on it.Can no one look after the dog for you?Lol yeah no chance my wife would come camping.@Sun_Addict that’s UK hols haha rains all the time.3

We have had a couple of offers to buy it recently but even though we are not using it we are not going to sell it. It isn't hurting anything sat where it is.3 -
Know you think I'm not a real car guy but think I'm one of the few on here that get it, sure I'm the last person anyone on here is going to take advice from too but don't sell the car if you still like having it whether using it or not, you'll miss it and regret selling it (from experience on more than 1 occasion). Not many left, I'd say it's a proper classic these days and best colour 100%. Fwiw I'm not sure any amount of money can replace a car you love, have fond memories of and want to have more to come.

This old bird used to love visits to Santa Pod back in the dim and distant past too.
Staying in Worcs in the caravan, so much heavy rain all week, I was awake in the night listening to the rain on the roof and remembering those times in a tent snug in sleeping bag with the rain drumming on the roof.
@RelievedSheff two Benimars on site here, a 69 reg 202 and a 343 with personal plates, 2 bicycles and a very smart motor scooter. A Marquis branch about 20 miles from here. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)3
