It should be a no spends day today.

Breakfast and dinner will be from stores. Full English breakfast to use up some stuff in the fridge and then cajun lamb wraps tonight to finish off the roast lamb.

We won't be walking far today. We have the other half's brother and his partner coming round at dinnertime. Not seem them for ages. Shame the weather has turned though. It was lovely yesterday. Will have to fire the patio heater up I think!

Isn’t it typical the day you’ve got visitors it turns cold after it being so warm yesterday. Blankets and patio heater should take the edge off it. Enjoy your catch up anyway.

£250 paid to card 5 today.

It won't be a no spends day. I am ordering half a pig and some goat meat today for the freezer. BBQ season is almost upon us so it is time to make sure we are stocked up and ready for it.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores though. Breakfast was toast, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I have a small piece of lasagne from the freezer for my lunch and dinner tonight is smoked haddock fish cakes with sweet potato wedges and vegetables.

    Today's jobs include:
    • working from home
    • wrapping and posting a couple of books sold on Ebay
    • ordering the meat
    • vacuuming the house
    • dusting the house
    • walking the dog x 2
It is the other half's last four days at work before the firm shuts down for 3-4 weeks for a new roof fitting to the garage. We need to come up with a list of jobs to keep him occupied.

It has been one of those days where nothing has gone right so far and to top it off it is snowing as well now. Had to dash out and cover up the seedlings in the garden!

I have managed to sort out a new much cheaper provider for our gas and electric though. BG's prices have shot up this year and they are no where near as cheap as the deal that we have found. That should switch over on the 17th April.

The motorhome dealership have sent us the receipt for the small holding deposit we have paid along with the vehicle registration number. A quick check on the DVLA website suggests that the van is already plated to 3500kg so we might not have to mess about with the down rating of it after all. Something we need to flag up with them when the van is at our local branch for viewing.

I have been getting some insurance quotes and it is looking like it will be much cheaper than we thought to insure. Around £300 fully comp with full UK and EU breakdown cover. The road tax is also a bit cheaper than we were expecting as well at £155 per year. That's cheaper then my Nissan!

Finally the surveyors have booked to come and do a physical valuation of our house again on Thursday. The same surveyors who came to look at it in January!!

Just started snowing here and the sky has gone from blue to white. Sounds like you got plenty sorted today so not a total flop.

@RelievedSheff - are you sure about the road tax for the MH?  Under 3500kg it's usually £265; over 3500 it's £165 (at least that's what it was when we taxed ours last year - haven't done it yet this year!).

Insurance sound pretty good at £300 including EU breakdown cover.  Is that with a proper motorhome insurer or just an online quote as a lot of those online quotes don't do proper motorhome insurance!  Another thing to check is with regard to breakdown as a lot of companies limit the size of vehicle they'll recover, although you will probably be OK as I think you said the van you're getting is about 6m.

Yes it has come up as road tax £155. Its a throw back to the luxury car tax that got scrapped for motorhomes. They have kept the £155 rate for them but scrapped the additional  luxury tax charge element. We were expecting £265 to be fair.

The quotes for the insurance were proper motorhome insurers so would assume the breakdown cover covers a motorhome 🤣🤣🤣

Believe it or not it doesn't follow!  On the motorhome forum I'm on someone has a MH that it is 8.3m long and it turned out his breakdown cover wouldn't cover him as it was over 8m!  Unbelievable for just a few centimetres.
