Hope the Van turns out to be what you are looking for and good that you will not be taking the depreciation hit by buying it from new.
We weighed up the depreciation of the new vans and decided we just couldn't warrant it. As much as we would have liked one £15k is a lot of money to lose in two years.

This one will still lose a bit of value but not nearly as much, a few grand over a few years judging by the ones that do crop up for sale.
Yes it is always a dilemma and one reason we don't tend to buy new cars because of the heavy depreciation in year 1 and 2. Even more difficult I guess for something like a motor home which are less freely available. Lucky this one came up when it did.

We were lucky to get the lead and get in there before it was advertised. The other half joined an owners Facebook group and asked if anyone was selling one. The chap who has traded it in let him know so we got straight onto the dealers.

The chap has been really helpful and answered loads of questions and sent us loads of pictures. He is buying another Benimar which is good. He just wants a bigger model as they plan on doing longer tours of Europe.

In more ordinary times I believe it would have been easier to buy a van and we would never have dreamt of putting a deposit on a van we had not seen in the flesh.

@RelievedSheff I assume it's a returnable deposit you've put down as you haven't been able to see the van?  In the current climate I think loads of people are having to do exactly that; on the motorhome forum I'm on there have been a lot of new people signed up recently who have done just that.

Yes it is fully refundable if we don't want that van.

Just got back from a lovely walk around Sherwood Forest. The major oak was looking splendid in the sunshine.

Back home now. The lamb is marinating in the fridge for later and the rest of dinner is prepped ready for later.

We are sat out on the patio in the sunshine. It's lovely and warm out here.
  • When I was a child you could climb inside the tree, which I did.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

You can't get anywhere near the tree now which is a shame. I can see why though. It doesn't look the safest anymore!
