     I 100 wouldn’t buy a used bed lol.
Now there's a quandary that's always bemused me - people (including me) think nothing about sleeping in a hotel bed but would shudder at the thought of a second-hand mattress.  The human mind is a strange thing.....

Money really does burn a hole in your pocket @RelievedSheff and I thought I was bad for the spending. 😆 Seriously, I think it makes sense to buy a new one - ultimately it’s a bed on wheels and I 100 wouldn’t buy a used bed lol.
You see I would buy a used bed and just replace the mattress.

It's not so much the money burning a hole that's the problem. It's the realisation that we don't have anything to do or look forward too so far this year with the boat gone 🤔

By this time of year we usually have all of our holidays planned out and organised. Not got a thing sorted yet for this year. I have a week off work at the end of April and not a clue what we are doing.

@JGB1955 lol thanks for that thought very true but FML I feel ill now tbh at the thought of staying at a hotel.

@RelievedSheff are holidays a big thing for you? Suppose they must be if you’re willing to spend used AM money on a van with a bed in back lol.

Tbf I think money does slip through your fingers very easily - not two minutes after you’d sold the old stuff you’d got a new TV bought. I’m not saying I’ve been any better in the past so it’s not a criticism just something you possibly need to think about with regards to why you possibly are in debt. Def not a saint ha.

Holidays are a massive part of our life. We always look forward to them. Even just weekends away. We like the time out to have a change of scenery and to relax and unwind.

We had been planning to buy a TV for months. Much the same as the shed. It wasn't a spur of the moment purchase. It was planned and budgeted for, the Ebay sales just meant we could bring the purchase forward a bit.

Which reminds me. I must chase up this holiday refund so we can go and order the shed.

After the shed the next big purchase (other than the van) will be a Weber BBQ. Again we will budget for it and won't buy it until we have the money in the savings account.

Holidays are a massive part of our life too. Can’t beat that feeling of looking forward to a holiday and the relaxation when you get there.

Holidays play a big part in our lives too but you probably realised that with us having a MH!  That's great news that the dealer has new, auto vans coming in late June/early July.

With your week off at the end of April do you think it might be worth having a look round other dealers to see what other layouts would be available?  I know you say you've set your heart on the Benimar but I still think it would be a good idea to have a look round at what else is available.

We spent plenty of time looking around the dealers about 18 months ago when we first toyed with the idea of getting one. We have seen all of the layouts available for a 6m van. Nothing new has come out since, so I don't really see what benefit it would be to us if I'm honest to look again. There was nothing else that we even vaguely liked as much as the Benimar Mileo 202.

It will be a no spends day today.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be from stores. Breakfast was cereals, the other half has taken his packed lunch to work, I am having chips and cheese wrap for my lunch and dinner tonight is peri peri pork chops with sweet potato wedges and roasted curried vegetables.

    Today's jobs include:
    • working from home
    • cleaning the kitchen
    • cutting the grass (front and back gardens)
    • walking the dog x 2
Hopefully a few more seedlings will pop their heads up in the garden today with the sunshine that is forecast.

I can feel a van coming soon :)
Hopefully you can keep it to an amount that isn't too stretching. I think I understand wanting new for this type of thing although can't really put my finger on why. As long as you can manage it with decent longer term finance it should be OK. I don't think you're people to buy on a whim and then get rid. I suppose the biggest risk is having to get rid and carrying a loss because of the new premium rather than keeping a lot of equity in it as you would with 2nd hand. Am sure you've weighed it up. If I'm reading the press right there is a general shortage of these things and you might not have too much choice anyway.
Its unusual though on the diaries a big purchase like this when you're still in the debt busting phase but you do give off safe hands vibes these days for sure.

No it isn't really very MSE buying a new van, but we are fairly certain we will get our monies worth from it. The plan would be for it to be a long term purchase and we would probably keep it for at least 10 years (probably more if the boat was anything to go by)

Plus it would be all of our holidays and weekends away for the foreseeable future. We found with the boat that it really isn't an expensive holiday when you take your accommodation with you.
