I had a slow start to the day, trying to pluck up courage to start making the study curtains (I had already cut out the curtain lengths, though not the lining). I set up a temporary sewing table in the study and finally got round to pinning the lining material, but still haven't cut it - at least I know that I have enough, phew! And I joined the two pieces of patterned material for each curtain: the first took me 1.5 hours, the second about 20 minutes. First job when I return to the task - probably not until Friday - will be to press the centre, top and side seams, and then I can re-measure, cut and join the lining. "Measure twice, cut once" is a bit of an understatement
After a heavy downpour had finished, Rosie took me for a walk, then as I was already dressed for outdoors and DH was out at the war games shop, I set to and flew in the garden. I potted on all 31 lychnis seedlings, 12 erigeron ditto, 5 aquilegia ditto, and planted out 3 assorted rockery plants, 7 Alpine strawberries, and about 8 clumps of montbretia=crocosmia. I have washed out all the seed trays and mini pots and feel that I have made a decent amount of progress in the garden today. I have also ordered all the shelving brackets for the study8 -
Morning all
Skint that sounds like a lot of upheaval! Then again I have lived without central heating and so I suppose it will be worth it, hope it all goes to plan.
ASB you think they would sob in private and try to encourage the kids to enjoy school and put a positive front on it, otherwise its going to be much harder for school. Then again what do I know, I am not in that position. Valli I feel for you, we havent even started letting the public back into our work building yet and I am a bit anxious about that, and at least I have some control over it all.
Sitting here in my exercise gear and dressing gown, supposed to be doing weights this morning, will get on in a minute. Working from home today which is nice, dont want to give this up. Oh,and I need to fill in my appraisal form by the end of the week, what joy.
Have a good Thursday all, catch you later x8 -
Morning all,
Iona I am in absolute awe of anyone who has your sewing skills. I was never taught to sew, and keep saying I will teach myself the basics using YouTube but I never do. I am getting some curtains made for DDs room (very wide window), and the price makes me shudder. Well done you xx
It started raining at 3pm yesterday and has only just stopped. Kids had a brilliant day yesterday and are looking forward to going again today. I will be mainly dog walking, batch cooking, nipping to collect an Argos order and pottering around. This time next week I'll be craving days like this I'm sure!Big hugs to all xx8 -
Morning xx
I'm needing one of asb's big hugs - thank you xx
DS has gone to work - his first day in his new job. He was so nervous and I feel like I did when he started secondary school ie slightly sick and can't wait 'til hometime to see how it went. It's going to be a long day.
I really must fly today. I've made my bed and put some of my birthday gift cider in the fridge. It's a start! One dot at a time seems the way to go here too,
Rxx
PS Flylady good first day vibes requested please.

Well, must get up shortly, I'm working this pm and plan to spray flea killer before I go, after I have loaded up the Vallimobile, so that the house is empty while it does it's work, as per instructions.
Off to DS's for tea!

I went to bed quite late because after I had finished posting at 11.15 pm I went down to let Rosie out and found DH in fits of laughter at the Celebrity Masterchef highlights - or in many cases lowlights - and stopped to watch the rest of the programme with him. I woke up while it was still dark with shoulder pain (most likely caused by digging holes in stony ground yesterday) but propped myself upright with 4 pillows, took an ibuprofen, and managed to get back to sleep until 7.40 am. I have crossed one thing off my list and added a couple more "to do" items.
Today I have a Zoom meeting at 10.30 but need to ring my boss beforehand . I also have various messages to send and cards to post. I am going out to the GC with my friend S who can talk the hind leg off a donkey; after lunch, as I shall be halfway there, I might pop to the market town and see if I can get some clothes. I've hardly bought anything this year, and my comfortable baggy trousers are beginning to go into little holes.
Thanks for the hug, asb xx
Thinking of your DS, round - I'm sure he'll be enjoying himself xx
Work coping vibes to Valli - then enjoy your teaxx
Skinty, if you're even having to move beds out, where on earth are you going to sleep while all the work is done?
Hope everyone has a good day xx7 -
Done so far
Bed made, clothes picked up

Found something nice in the freezer for dinner tonight, it's our wedding anniversary, 32 years! I must have been a child bride, I can't be that old.
All DD1s bottles taken to recycling but whilst I was posting bottles in a wasp flew out and up my sleeve and stung me, I was worried it was still in my shirt so had to sit in the car and take my shirt off to check, felt very stupid on the car park! found some sting gel in the bathroom cabinet so waiting for that to take effect.
Floors here next.
Big hugs and good luck vibes for all those back at work, school or first days this week. I'm back with children's groups next week, just to help settle them in a deal with parents as I don't want to teach this year. I worked in June and early July so know what to expect in terms of working in masks, cleaning etc.

Happy Anniversary Mademoiselle - although that feels like a contradiction to my school-girl French xx
I have had the laziest of lazy couple of days. Finished another book and eaten cake. Lots of cider in the fridge but I'm waiting for the sun to get over the yardarm - it could take a while as I don't know what a yardarm is lol
I've fed the birds, does that count as flying?
Must try harder tomorrow - no point starting today now. I can feel another book shouting 'Read Me'.
Hugs
