Metro Bank refer a friend offer

As you opened the account in August, it could it be that the 10 debit card transactions had to be made within August and September rather than September and October? A problem with this offer is that they have not been clear as to what they define as a month (calendar/28 days)?medias said:I got my joining incentive but my sister did not, she received an email yesterday saying she didn't meet the criteria. We were referred by the same relative and had a similar timeline.
Here's her timeline, has she done something wrong?- 26 August we both got the email referral
- 27 August she opened her account
- registered for online and mobile app banking
- transferred £500 on 27 Aug, 27 Sep, and 25 Oct
- 16 September full switch of her old account completed
- once she got her debit card, she made more than 10 online and store purchases in the first 2 months (Sep and Oct), then didn't stop using her card, made a couple more in Nov. Not in each month, but in total across the first two months there were more than 10.
Thank you.
PS. Our relative got £50 for my referral, she has not referred anyone else except us.
I'm waiting on 5 referrals but I'm not expecting the bonus until next month. I used the contact form on the refer a friend offer to confirm how many people had used my referral code but they helpfully told me just to ask my friends. I'd like to consider everyone on the forum who used my code a friend but we're not the best at keeping in touch ;-). It is irritating that they confirmed by email to the person who used the link that they have signed up using the offer but didn't do so for the referrer as well.0 -
SuperHans1 I opened my account on 26 August and could not purchase anything in August because the debit card took a while to arrive in the post. My first purchase was made in September and I received my £50 incentive last week. I believe it was delayed.
My sister - who did not receive the incentive - opened her account one day later than me, and got her debit card in September as well, so couldn't have made purchases in Aug. She got an email from MB yesterday saying she didn't meet the eligibility criteria for the offer.

Hope I'm ok asking these questions:
If you use a link to sign up that has already been used 5 times, do you as the referee still get the £50 even though the referrer wouldn't?
Also, has anyone managed to successfully receive the incentive after switching an account that didn't have direct debits active on it?
Thanks0 -
Q1. The T&Cs are slightly ambiguous, but I believe you do, yes. However, with so many people on here referring if I needed one I'd personally go with someone who had not used up their 5 referrals.muffin_man said:Hope I'm ok asking these questions:

Q2. I'd imagine many people, since the T&Cs do not stipulate DDs have to be switched.

I switched a current account that had no active dd's or so's. I received my £50 no trouble.1

I referred my OH and he finished completing all the requirements on 2 October. No sign of either of our bonuses. He sent a message to Metro Bank to query this and received a standard blanket reply asking him to phone. If he had wanted to spend hours on the phone, he wouldn't have sent a message. There seems to be no service in their Customer Service.0

I sent them a secure message asking them why they have a secure message system if they just respond asking you to phone. Their reply asked me to phone!Over62 said:I referred my OH and he finished completing all the requirements on 2 October. No sign of either of our bonuses. So my sister made a complaint one week ago about not getting her £50. She has yet to hear back from MB, although they said most complaints are resolved within 3 days. She also called yesterday for an update and the customer service guy had no knowledge of how the "refer a friend" scheme worked and he said there were no notes on her account. Has anyone else who (thinks they) met the criteria not received their joining bonus?0

They don't appear to take complaints seriously. They don't log and document a complaint. They think that giving you a standard reply resolves a complaint. Ridiculously unproffesional to say the least.medias said:So my sister made a complaint one week ago about not getting her £50.
