I started this thread off, not realising there was a similar one. However, I'm glad to see that Martin is now over-seeing this. If you look at the other thread, the webmaster is asking for your IP address, this will/may help.

Yes, me too, I thought my pc was 'up the left' - I am relieved I eventually found this thread, had to go via about six forums to get to 'updated posts'.

My OH stumped off - got fed up waiting for so long.

Don't know about the rest of you, but it's stopping me posting as often.

Also I can't get my smilies won't work?

Hi folks

Just to say this site has not been 'struggling' since it was born. Actually for the vast part of the year we were running top parts of speed and very few problems. THen the DDOS hit, we restructured and woked to get it all up and running.

One of the problems is things are working fine here for us; and its zippy (and we connect through the web no special access). It seems the problems are ISP/IP specific. Which makes it much more difficult to work out and for us to pick up.

I agree that it does seem to be IP or ISP related. I could login with no problems through work and quite speedily but could not get on at home at all until I changed the proxy server. These used to be freely available through NTL but since Virgin Media took over they have been more difficult to find one that works. Even with this change things are slow.

I have sent my IP address as requested.

I don't think I've seen the site faster than it has been today for me.
I guess some of us are getting through quicker because everyone else is being held up somewhere.

The above image should tell you your IP if you want to note it down and email it to siteproblems@moneysavingexpert.com as Webby asked
(Don't try to copy the image itself - it'll only tell webby his own IP!)

• Hi,
Thanks to everyone who have been sending sending those IPs through, we're narrowing down the problem. In order to help us track it further, we need a traceroute as well as your IP address. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes if you can spare the time.

1. Please open a command prompt (start - programs - accessories - command prompt)
2. Type in the command: tracert www.moneysavingexpert.com
(this should start displaying some numbers running down the screen. After a few lines it might say "timed out". If it does this, you can press Ctrl+c to stop it running).
3. Then, after clicking the right mouse button anywhere in the black window, please choose "Mark"
4. Using your shift key and arrow keys can you select the block of results and press Enter to copy it
5. Open up a reply to this e-mail and paste it in.
6. Finally, please go to http://whatismyip.com/
7. Big and bold in the middle of your screen should be an IP address (four sets of numbers separated by full stops) Please add your IP address to the e-mail.
8. Send it back to us at siteproblems@moneysavingexpert.com

Thanks you very much in advance. By getting this info, we can sort the problem that much quicker.
